I mentioned earlier this week how I’m on a stay-cation. I had some vacation time from work to use and didn’t really feel like I had the funds to go anywhere (especially with a couple trips for late spring/summer) and the idea of a stay-cation seemed like enough of a break anyway. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my time when Amy suggested taking a trip to Santa Barbara for a day. I’d never been and we were both off Monday and decided it was just the thing to do.
We left around 10 Monday morning and took the scenic route up PCH, enjoying the gorgeous ocean views and fresh air. The moment we were out of LA, I think we both felt the sudden exhale of stress and anxiety, and I swear my shoulders dropped and my muscles loosened.
We got to Santa Barbara right around lunch time and headed straight to our pre-determined lunch spot: Pierre LaFond’s Wine Bistro on State Street. We both got their Avocado sandwich with a white wine flight. Amy got Sauvignon Blanc and I got Chardonnay. The idea behind this lunch was a wine tasting and we were served a bit more than a taste of each…
We stayed at Pierre LaFond for nearly 2 hours enjoying the opportunity to take our time eating and enjoying our wine. We spent the next few hours walking around State Street, shopping and just enjoying the beautiful weather.
After spending more money than I may have planned (I freaking LOVE Crossroads!), we made our way down to the beach to sit on the sand while the sun set around us. The views were phenomenal and it really was the best way to end the day. And the greatest way to start my week-long “stay-cation.”
Beautiful weather. Amazing company. Perfect day.
