First of all, thank you all so much for your kind words on yesterday’s story! If you didn’t get a chance to check it out, I highly recommend it and hope it might be able to motivate you, especially if you’re feeling discouraged.
I’ve been trying to get back on my 10k training program’s regularly scheduled workouts instead of moving things around all the time. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly fine to adjust a training program to your life (and honestly better, especially for keeping to a plan) but now that I’m finally starting to get settled back home, I need to create a schedule in some form or another. The first way I could accomplish this was through getting a job and second was getting on a regularly scheduled fitness regime. I’ve successfully completed both and it feels good.
But, I was having trouble being off the 10k schedule as I kept having to make several changes to avoid back to back run days so I decided to get back on it. Then yesterday morning I found myself feeling like I needed a rest day soon and looked to see when I last had one…last Thursday (9/13). Now before anyone goes off on the importance of rest, trust me, I know! My body has proven to me time and time again that it requires rest days and a break, but I also never felt like I was overdoing it this week or going beyond my limits, which is good! I listened to my body and my rest day is coming at a perfect time – today!!!
