Sometimes just the thought of going to the gym is too much. Sometimes it’s a sign that our body needs rest. Other times, it’s just our body allowing our thoughts to win. Our minds can be pretty convincing sometimes and we allow our laziness to make the final call.
Sometimes we’re able to overcome this; sometimes we’re not; and sometimes we reach out to our friends, family, or whoever will listen for support and a push in the right direction.
Have you heard the saying that you never regret a workout? (FYI – If you say no, I’m going to assume you’re lying.)
Because it’s true!
So get out there and move – you won’t regret it. And if you need some motivation, reach out to a friend, family, Twitter (or other social media), send me an email (kt.talkless.saymore(at)gmail(dot)com – I’ll kick yer butt out the door), do whatever you have to do to get out there. Or if all else fails, take Nike’s advice.
I understand that it’s hard. Trust me, I’ve had my days where my motivation is lacking; where the workout on the schedule just isn’t doing anything for me; where something comes up or gets in my way. Go with the punches, be flexible but stay committed.
This is your health you’re talking about!
And I want you around for a long time (from my own family members to my friends to all you lovely readers or just people passing through). I want to you around for a long time! I want you to take your health seriously and know just how important regular exercise is for your health.
And for those of you who maybe don’t know what to do, I’m hoping to fill your brains with lots of fun workouts; I’m hoping to motivate you to try new things; I’m hoping to make it so that you do think working out is fun (because yes, it can be!). But for now, here’s a few things you can try:
- Go for a walk or jog around your neighborhood
- Download a yoga podcast
- Take the bike out of storage and find a pretty path to ride
- Do jumping jacks, squats, and crunches during TV commercial breaks
- Walk on the treadmill while watching your favorite TV shows
- The options are endless – just get out there and move!
