When I tell people about the candida cleanse, honestly, I tend to just tell them I’m doing an elimination diet and specific supplement plan. Yes, that is what I’m doing but at the same time, it saves the complications of explaining all the not-so-fun details. Regardless, this is almost always followed up with “so what CAN you eat right now?”
I’m sure many of you are asking the same thing, so here’s the answer:
- Meat (except pork – but I don’t eat this)
- Brown Rice
- Plain Brown Rice Cakes
I understand this may not sound overly interesting or appetizing, but I assure you, I’ve been eating well and some really good foods. Here’s a sneak peak at some of what I’ve been eating…
2 Rice Cakes with Banana and Cinnamon (coconut oil mixed with cinnamon and a splash of vanilla spread on top of the rice cakes is even BETTER!) x2 (Breakfast and mid-morning snack)
Tuna Salad with veggies and avocado OR brown rice with roasted veggies and avocado (Lunch)
Eggs & Sweet Potatoes or Plantains + veggies (Dinner)
Apples, Carrots, Rice Cakes, Misc Fruit or Veggies (Snacks)
This may sound like it would get old quickly but it’s all about how you season and change things up. I am being reminded on the importance of healthy fats in my diet (think: coconut oil and avocado) and how a simple sprinkle of garlic powder adds SO MUCH delicious flavor.
I’m staying on top of water and drinking lots of hot tea and coffee, as well. Keeping myself well hydrated has meant being more in tune with my hunger cues.
I’m looking forward to the weeks when I can reintroduce nuts and some of my other favorite foods, but right now I’m feeling good and I can tell this is helping even just bit by bit.
What have you been eating lately?
