Mezamashii Run Project

It was about 3 1/2 years ago when I first decided I wanted to start running.  Looking back, I may have been out of my mind.  I had been diagnosed with “severe” asthma and had my second knee surgery about 9 months prior.  I had never been a runner but I wanted to be one and that’s what was important.

The good news is that I was surrounded by encouragement.  A friend telling me he had asthma as a kid and after he started running, he hardly ever needed that inhaler anymore.  A friend supporting me through beginner running programs so that I would ease into it.  And a friend advising me on getting the right shoes, especially so not to injure my obviously trouble-some knee.

I went to my local running store and was fitted for my first pair of Mizunos.  I remember walking in with at least 2 or 3 (maybe more?) year-old Adidas and every pair of shoes feeling “so much better.”  (Uh…duh!) But then I was put into the Mizunos and it was glorious.  I’m not even exaggerating.  I took them home and went for a run.

Fast forward a year later – I was living in LA and in need of new running shoes.  I went to the local running shoe store.  They didn’t carry them.  In fact the sales person talked down on Mizunos and assured me he’d help me find a good shoe.  I bought Brooks.  After two runs, I returned them.  I bought Asics.  If I hadn’t waited too long past the return date, I would have returned them too.

Fast forward another year – I found a running store in LA that carried Mizunos and bought them.  Loved them.  Happy feet; happy knees; happy hips; happy running Katie.

IMG_0637Fast forward another year – I’m back living in IL and for whatever reason I was running in something different.  It felt good and saved me a bit of cash.  That was until I increased my distance, my speed, and my weekly mileage.  I needed to go back to Mizunos, I just knew it.  But for the life of me I couldn’t remember which ones I bought.  Thankfully Mizuno has this awesome website to help you determine which shoe you should buy – it’s awesome and I’ve used it several times over the years.  My local running shoe store carried Mizunos but not the ones I knew I needed.

Fast forward a couple weeks – it was like the universe and the running gods knew what I needed.  I was offered an opportunity to try the new Mizuno Wave Inspire 8s through the Mezamashii Run Project – all I had to do was give them my size, color choice and shipping address.

When they arrived I was so excited and couldn’t wait to tie up my laces for the next morning’s run.

Fast forward a couple months – I’ve been consistently running in my Mizuno Wave Inspire 8s and couldn’t be happier.  The pain I felt several months ago?  What pain? Does that answer your question?

I am SO jealous! I just bought my first pair over Thanksgiving. It was my first official fitting for running shoes and they really are magical. I feel so sure-footed and supported in them. Mine are a slightly different model I believe, but I’m pretty sure I will NEVER go back to anything else. 🙂

Wow–you are definitely a Mizuno girl! I’ve never tried their shoes . . . and I’m not sure that my local running store carries them. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the new pair they sent to you! Happy running! 🙂
