Seven to Michigan

In case there was any question of whether or not it would or did happen, I assure you, I completed my 7 mile long run yesterday.  It was freaking marvelous!

Actually, I should clarify.  It was far from easy.  I realized one reason for my lack of motivation is the cold.  While I’m LOVING having weather changes again, the frigid runs are getting a little tiring and I’m ready for the temps to warm up, at least for my long run.  So when I woke up this morning and my phone said it was 10 degrees, I knew that wasn’t happening so after breakfast I made my way to the gym and busted out my run on the treadmill.  7 miles in the same exact place is no easy feat!

But when I was done, I wasn’t only super red in the face, but I was so happy and proud of myself.  One mile closer to achieving my goal and that seriously feels amazing.

Music MondayIt’s a Monday, and as the resident music snob enthusiast, I must do my due diligence and share some new music with you.  Well, at least new to me and maybe hopefully new to you as well.

I’ve mentioned many times that I love finding new music, however it may cross my path.  Well about a week or so ago I was at working and this song came on; I didn’t recognize it but I was really liking it when my coworker mentioned how much she really liked this song and needed to know who it was.  I think she expected me to know but this time, I didn’t.  She ran in back and checked.  The song was called “Michigan” by a band named The Milk Carton Kids.

milk-carton-kids-300x210Never heard of ‘em.  She quickly scribbled it down on two notes – one for her and one for me.  I went home that night, looked them up on Spotify and have been hooked ever since.  Now if you knew who they were, insert my scold for holding them from me here.  If you don’t know who they are, I highly recommend you listen to this song and then look  them up for more.  Your ears will love you for it.

I don’t have much more to say except that this is pretty freaking marvelous so you know I’m linking up to Katie’s MIMM. 🙂

When’s the last time you fell in love with a new song or band?

Congrats on a great run, even if it was in one place. 🙂 I have been having SUCH a hard time with the cold and overcoming mental blocks to getting out the door. Last week, when I finally tried, I ended up getting sick afterwards, so now I’m even MORE nervous about it….I guess it is like falling off of a horse, but I might just wait until it is sunny before I get back up and ride again…if you know what I mean!

I feel like running on the treadmill should add a couple extra miles just because it is so boring! That’s a long run tho so congrats on conquering it on the treadmill!

I think it counts towards the “mental” points for running but sadly, it doesn’t quite give the same PHYSICAL effort of running on the ground so in that regard it loses a few points.

Ah yay for 7 miles!! I want that app that tells you how awesome you are…lol!

I totally agree that running in the cold can really wear your body out! Lungs burning, nose running, and the fact that your body is trying to keep warm, all impact how much effort it takes. I’m with you on taking it inside sometimes (err most of the time recently).

    Happy Monday! <3

It’s the Nike+ GPS app. I love it! I also love seeing where my friends and I rank on mileage for the month. I have a mini competition going with one of my old coworkers from California.

Way to crank out those 7 miles. I’ve become more and more of baby when it comes to the cold weather around here. But good news: after tomorrow’s snow watch (brutal!), the temperatures are supposed to start going up for the weekend!

I saw that! My only concern is how WET the roads are going to be from all the melting snow. It’s going to be puddle-running for me.

Good job on getting your 7 mile run in! I seriously do not know how people run that long on a treadmill!! Good for you!

Happy week to you love! <3

    How is that gym crush?!

Girl, I hardly even see him anymore. 🙁 My work schedule has me working less mornings so I’m either going before he gets there or we’re basically saying hi/bye and no time to chat. Bummer.
