If you ever attend one of my vinyasa yoga classes in person, there are 2 things you will ALWAYS see: Sun Salutation A and Savasana. While an entire video of a Savasana wouldn’t be the most interesting thing to watch (though I highly encourage you to do it on your own at home), I can pretty easily walk you through a Sun Salutation A, also known as Surya Namaskar A. This is a traditional yoga warm-up though I still believe in warming up the body a bit prior to actually performing your Sun Salutation. You will build a lot of heat with this practice and if my students haven’t started sweating before this moment, this is usually when that begins (when it’s a hot yoga class, it’s hard to not start sweating immediately some days).
For today’s TriYoga with Katie video, after a short warm-up, I walk you through a few rounds of a traditional Sun A. As you move through this practice, notice the breath cues, syncing each movement with your breath. If you don’t get it right away, that’s okay, it’s something to work on! As always, if you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!
How did today’s video feel in your body? What felt good? What was challenging? Where can I help support you?
