The ONE Thing You Actually Need to Meditate

As you all know, I’m a huge fan of meditation. I added it to my life a few years ago and it is now an absolute MUST for me every single day. When my practice isn’t consistent, I FEEL it, and when it is, I feel that too but in a good way. 

There are so many misconceptions when it comes to meditation such as how the space needs to be set up, how long you need to meditate, that your thoughts will stop entirely, that you need some sort of special cushion, etc. I’m here to tell you today that there’s actually only ONE thing that you need every single time to meditate. It can be that easy. 

Sure, there are ways to create a better space for yourself, times that may work better for you versus others, ways to sit that may be more comfortable, and who wouldn’t love to find an extra hour in their day to sit and be still? And while we can dive into these components later, there is still only ONE thing that you need. 

So what is it? It’s YOU. 

I’m not kidding. You don’t actually NEED anything else. All you need is yourself in that present moment. Like I mentioned before, there are other things we can do and utilize for your experience, but YOU are really the only thing needed.

With that said, I have absolutely loved learning more about meditation and I’m excited to continue to share more of what I’ve learned through my experience and continued education on this blog, my social media, and…(drumroll, please)…one-on-one coaching!

You guys, I’m so excited to begin working with clients to help them get past their road blocks when it comes to meditation, to help them find their best time and space to meditate, to help them achieve their goals through personalized guided meditations, and see how we can start and/or elevate their practice together! (And yes, this is possible to do remote, so you don’t have to be local!)

    Love love love this journey you are on <3 I love meditation. I don't do it nearly enough, but I agree completely that there are so many misconceptions about what is actually needed. In reality, I think it takes a willingness to step beyond the comfort zone and practice practice practice! Best of luck coaching–I think this is a wonderful direction for you since it's clearly something you are very passionate about!

    You have found what makes your heart happy and that is awesome. You are great at it too! I have never tried “real” meditation other than some deep breathing and stuff when I need it. Does that make sense? Never guided. But someday I should! You will help so many!

      Deep breathing is totally meditation. I did a breath awareness meditation recently, maybe that would be a good place for you to start? 🙂 Meditation is just single-minded-focus, it doesn’t have to be as complicated as we all make it sometimes.

    I love this and you are so right! I have a lot of friends who have a whole meditation routine that includes lighting candles, turning on music, sitting in a specific area of their home… Meditation really is only about finding some quiet and stillness in your mind, which is more necessary now than ever, given all the distractions we are faced with throughout the day.       I love when people are able to set a space for themselves to that extent, but it’s not necessary. It’s beautiful and amazing, and for people who feel like it helps them set the tone and space for themselves that’s amazing, but it’s definitely not required.

    That is so exciting – all the best with your coaching! I did a course in March and loved it – missed a couple of sessions but still got into meditation and it is such a wonderful way to relax and let go of stresses that build up during the day.
