Hello and Happy Friday! If you’re like me, I’m so happy that we’re finally rounding the corner to the weekend! I took last week off from sharing a new TriYoga with Katie video since I was just coming back from vacation and who doesn’t want to give themselves a little vacate from ALL the things? But this week I’m back with a new pose breakdown to round out the month and this week we’re talking about Warrior 1 pose.
Warrior 1 is (obviously) one of the three poses in the Warrior series and if I’m being totally honest, not one of my favorite poses. It’s a little awkward in the body to have your back foot planted while keeping your hips squared forward. It’s not my favorite and as such, I’ll teach Crescent more often in my classes. But today isn’t about Crescent, we’re talking about Warrior 1 because it is a common pose in class and I want to make sure you know all the points to hit within your own body.
Be sure to check out the video below but the biggest things to note:
- Your back heel will be planted
- Heel to heel alignment in the feet
- Hips square with the front of your space
- Arms reaching up through the ribcage
