Did you know today is World Smile Day?
Well, it is! And while I hope all of you are smiling already today (it is Friday after all), just in case you aren’t, I thought I would share 10 ways / reasons to smile today.
1. It’s Friday
I mentioned it already, but it is Friday and even though I like my job, I always look forward to the weekend as it provides an opportunity for me to focus on other things in my life, relax, attend long yoga classes and just rejuvenate myself for the next week ahead.
2. Cute baby animals
Thankfully we live in a world of Google and Pinterest and Youtube and all of the cute animals exist at your finger tips. Because seriously…how could this not make you giggle even a little bit?
3. Go for a walk
If you’re feeling grumpy, I swear a little fresh air, some music/podcast/audiobook in your ear, and light movement, is just the thing to turn that frown upside down and smile. You can always go for a run, a yoga class, or whatever workout gets your blood pumping and that you enjoy.
4. ET Phone Home
Admittedly, I was terrified of this movie growing up and haven’t seen it since, but pick up the phone and call a friend, family or other loved one. Chatting it out is sure to help pick you up and make you smile.
5. Write
Maybe it’s just me but one of the best ways to make myself smile is by writing. It’s my release and usually gets the wheels turning with new, fun and exciting ideas.
6. Watch a movie or TV show
This is an especially good option if you’re going the route of a comedy. Soon enough you will pee your pants with laughter. Maybe throw a towel on the couch just in case? 😉
7. Use a Snapchat Filter
While in many ways, I’m still wrapping my head around Snapchat (@iamkatiearnold if you want to follow!), some of the filters are just so silly that you can’t help but laugh.
8. Dance in the rain
Remember when it started raining which quickly turned into pouring rain as I walked to the fitness center several weeks ago? There is nothing about this smile that isn’t real. I was laughing hysterically with the cheesiest grin on my face. It’s the little things, okay?
9. Go the park
Whether you’re taking children or not (not meant in a creepy way, of course!), but having that connection back to our childhood with sliding down a slide or swinging on the swings, you are bound to end up with a smile on your face!
10. Tell knock-knock jokes
Yes, I get that many of them can be cheesy or seemingly dumb, sometimes you just can’t help but laugh at the ridiculousness of a knock-knock joke. So do it, got it?
Whether you find my ideas silly or useful, I hope something made you smile today and you pass and share the love and a smile with someone today, whether it be me, a friend, family member, coworker, or a complete stranger.

I love watching sit coms like How I Met Your Mother or Friends- they always make a bad day good again. And I agree with the rain. For some reason it makes me so happy when I wake up and hear the rain pattering outside my window!
