2016 GOALS: January

goals-jan2016

I feel like you’re going to look at me, roll your eyes and go “Katie, everyone is sharing their goals right now, we get it, okay?”

And you know what, I DO get it! But you know what else? Sometimes I think reading other people’s goals gives us ideas of goals we may want to achieve at some point or a possible support system if that person is reaching for goals similar to our own. It’s for that that I share.

Well, and because I feel like it and can do what I want. 😛

newyearpossibilities

Now that we have that little bit of business (or maybe just inner snarky-ness out of the way), I am really excited to share my goals with you. I should admit that I’m doing something a bit different this year…instead of just making YEARLY goals, in an attempt to be more timely, I’m making mostly monthly goals with a few goals that I’ll be chipping away at all year.

JANUARY GOALS:

1. Read 1 book cover-to-cover

Ultimately I’m hoping for 6-12 books read this year but starting small.

2. Send 1 handwritten letter

I sent 1 handwritten letter/month a couple years ago and absolutely loved it…here’s to hoping I am bringing it back!

3. Get a part-time job

I need a second income as I pay off bills from 50 States and while I love blogging, it’s not consistent enough for me to pay these off as quickly as I want/need.

4. Launch DailyAspire.com

I think I can already cross this one off…it launched this morning! Have you checked it out yet? 😉

5. Yoga 2x/week

I’m working on bringing back my practice. Especially as I’m working on increasing my running mileage once again, it’s becoming ever more important for me to work on flexibility. That and it’s good for my mental health too.

Note: Most months I will probably shoot for 3-5 goals. Nothing too crazy or extravagant but a few things that I can manage. I’m sure you’ll see a few repeats as they are part of a larger goal.

2016 GOALS:

1. Continue Learning German

This sounds so vague (because it is) but I’m working on making Duolingo a consistent habit, plus with the 2016 German Phrases calendar my parents gave me for Christmas, it’s about creating a habit. Plus since the boy speaks to his son in German, he’ll force me to keep practicing. 😉

2. Pay Off 50 States Bills (by the end of the year)

This is a bit lofty, you really have no idea but one that I really hope to do. As much good as I did late 2014/most of 2015 working to help others, it really put me in a hole and it’s time to dig myself out. With that said…

3. Sell Bullseye the RV

He’s been getting a few repairs to be sure he’s in tip top shape and setting myself up for success with selling but the longer I have it, the longer I’m also making those payments (on my own, mind you). Here’s to hoping he finds his next home (early) in 2016!

4. Create and stick to a reasonable budget

The budget has been made but as to how reasonable it is, is slightly dependent on that second income. I’d like to have a little “fun” money if possible but it’s not likely for awhile. As such, don’t be surprised if you start seeing a few penny-pinching recipes/posts on TLSM this year.

5. Grow Social Media Channels

Ideally, I’d love to see my social media channels grow by at least 100 followers per channel per month. I’m debating on giving Daily Aspire it’s own Instagram and/or Twitter (it has it’s own FB) but I’m still undecided. I tried to create an all-encompassing Twitter but either I already made it and don’t remember the credentials (likely..HA!) or someone else has it (agh!)

Well there we have it…there’s a few others that I’ve been thinking about (like running mileage goals / steps goals for my Fitbit) but I’m still figuring out what works. It is REALLY hard to get 10,000 steps in one day when you have an office job and on days when your workout isn’t a 3 mile run, so I’m not sure if that’s going to be the right goal for me every.single.day, but as I figure it out, I’ll share more!

What are some of your goals for 2016?

How did you celebrate New Years?

I love reading other people’s goals! Ours are quite similar! I’m a bit scared to try out yoga but it’s been on my to-do list for a while so I’m hoping its something I enjoy because of all the positive things it can do for your health!
