3 Natural Ways To Help Migraines

It’s ironic that I slated out my weekly posts during a week when I would get hit with one of the worst migraines I’ve had in awhile. A migraine that would kick me down, keep me from my workouts, and even prevent me from being able to drive to work 2 days in a row.

In general, I follow a more holistic lifestyle and avoid medication when I can, but this week it has been necessary, except the medication didn’t touch the pain. Sleep didn’t touch the pain. In fact, the only things that helped to bring me any kind of relief were the holistic, natural remedies.

So what did I use, do, try and take?

Magnesium

Personally I take Natural Calm Magnesium Powder every night before bed. It helps me unwind, relax, and helps prevent migraines. Plus, having a warm beverage before bed is extra calming.

Chiropractor

This is my secret weapon. A good adjustment can knock my migraine to the curb and get me feeling better in no time.

Peppermint

One thing that takes the edge off my migraines is peppermint oil. I dab a bit on my wrists, and touch my temples and behind my ears. Another thing I’ve tried is the Mygra Stick which is a roll-on with peppermint and lavender essential oils.

All I can say is that I’m glad the pain and side effects are starting to subside.

I suffered from migraines for so many years! I did an elimination diet 3 years ago and found dairy to be the culprit for me. Cutting out dairy 100% has ended my migraines (only one in 3 years v.s. 2-3 migraines per week! prior!)

Glad you have a few tricks in your toolkit to deal with the symptoms. That always helps.

Wow, I’m glad you found your culprit! I’ve found that mine are hormone triggered…everytime my hormones change, I get hit. Problem is that I’m having a ton of hormone issues and we’re struggling to regulate them so the headaches and more specifically, the migraine leveled ones are a bit out of control.

Same here! I start with peppermint oil, coffee and water. You know when I hit the meds it’s because it’s BAD.

Mmm Peppermint I had totally forgotten about that remedy.

I used to get migraines quite often but not as much as I used to. My vision splits, I sometimes get numbness in my arms. One time, my doctor was away so I called this tele-health number we have here to talk to nursing staff and when I was describing symptoms, they were concerned I was having a stroke. So off to the hospital I went and had an MRI and all that fun stuff and was determined it was a bad migraine.

They can be really, really nasty.

Have a great weekend love! 🙂

Oh, I’m so sorry you have to deal with those! I’m very thankful that I’ve never had a migraine, but many of my family members have dealt with them and it’s rough! I haven’t heard of using peppermint oil for them before.
