Happy New Year Everyone! Happy 2013!
I hope you all had a great New Years Eve, spending it however you felt right, necessary and enjoyable. I had quite the stressful day at work yesterday morning and after eating some lunch took a nap before my chiropractor appointment. I’m so hopeful and optimistic for the chiropractor care I’ve been and will continue to receive for the next few months. But I’ll talk more about that another day.
After my appointment, I came home, put my pjs on and put my feet up while reading some blogs with a hot cup of tea. I made dinner when it was time and continued with more of the same. I decided I didn’t want to do anything this evening and I’m so happy with that decision. For me it’s about going to bed when I’m tired to wake up feeling refreshed and renewed and ready to tackle anything 2013 may throw my way.
Besides, I wanted to be well rested before my New Years / Commitment Day Run!
I had heard about this run for awhile and even debated signing up for it myself but when I had the opportunity to get an entry to the
race rally, I was definitely not going to turn it down. And even better, I got a second entry and convinced one of my coworkers to run it with me. I’ll be sure to report back how it goes for both of us. This isn’t a timed race, which is why they call it a rally; it’s about committing to a healthy life – not just a “resolution.”
So I’m committing to my health. I’m committing to my physical, spiritual, emotional and mental health. I’m committing to me and my life. I’m committing to 2013 being about me and allowing myself to be selfish at times. I’m committing to me!
I’ve mentioned a few times that I’m not one for resolutions, but I love setting goals for myself and constantly having something new to reach towards and to constantly be striving for improvement. So that’s what I’m doing. This year those goals are a mix of some more personal goals, physical goals (like running my first 1/2 marathon!), and some that I’m not quite ready to share. You’ll just have to stay tuned for how things play out. 😉
Here’s a few things to think about or get you motivated for 2013:
Do you set resolutions for the new year?
What are some of your goals?
What did you do to ring in the new year?

I spent New Years Eve on my own, still recovering from a cold. I was, actually, a bit down on myself about it, but I think it was whole bunch of other life/mental ‘stuff’ building up, and I was able to take it out on what I often consider to be a rather overrated moment in our lives, in the year.
Hooray for commitment in 2013. I am still working on figuring out my goals…as I alluded to before, I’m not set on one day defining when they have to start. I want to be thoughtful about it. [Also, I’ve had so much to blog about with the holiday and Greek Week that I haven’t had time to do it! ;)]
I know it’s cliché, but one of my biggest resolutions for 2013 is to be and stay healthy. The past year was really stressful, and that caused me to not be able to focus on my health as much as I would’ve liked to. Now that the stress is (mostly) gone, I’m looking forward to being able to concentrate on losing weight.
My biggest resolution is to do one thing a day that makes me genuinely happy, whether it be treating myself to my favorite lunch or taking the time to get a pedicure. Life’s too short! 🙂
Life IS too short – great idea!
Glad you got some rest & good for you on participating in the rally! This is the first I’ve heard about it, but sounds like a great thing!! 🙂
We had a low-key NYE & made homemade pizza for dinner & watched a movie. Fine by me. 😉
i don’t set resolutions – i may be weird in that way. i do set goals randomly whenever they seem to arise… for instance, time or distance goals when training for races, or commitment goals such as strength training 3 times a week when my running had to end. happy new year!
Happy New Year! I’m very anti-resolution, pro-goals.
I’m new to your blog! Your goals and everything seem awesome for the new year!
I love setting goals and always look to the new year as a fresh start..
We hung out with some family last night and did a puzzle! nothing special. but it was perfect.
Welcome – glad you found me!
We used to play games, watch movies and eat snacks as a family on NYE as kids and it was perfect!
Love this post!! We need to chat soon!! I love my chiropractor, and I can’t wait to hear more about your experience. I’m still working on my 2013 goals… I don’t like making lofty goals without thinking them through. Ya know?? Happy New Year friend!
YES WE DO!
Great post, with some great quotes. I especially like the “don’t spend time with people that suck the happiness out of you”. Surround yourself with uplifting people! It makes all the difference, as well as aspiring to be the same for them. Happy New Year!
The people you surround yourself with is HUGE – HUGE!!
