I’m sure I’m not the only one who is thankful for the work week to go by quickly, but hates how fast the weekend flies. I came back from Easter weekend with a car full of some treasures I accumulated from my grandma’s house. I am so grateful for each thing I got, whether something useful like a new-to-me bag or something very special like the handful of ornaments, her beloved Longaberger baskets, or one of my great Uncle Kenny’s old record players and a few records.
I didn’t have much time throughout the week to sort through the pile where everything was dumped when I took it out of my car, so the big thing for my weekend was getting everything put away. This task quickly morphed into going through everything in my apartment, figuring out what I need and what I don’t, what I use and what I don’t, what I want and what I don’t, and putting those “don’t” items in a pile to come back home with me in a couple weeks to get thrown into the family garage sale pile.
While I love the idea of a minimal lifestyle, I also know that I have quite a bit of stuff, but when I get new things, whether that be clothes, furniture, bags, etc, I really make it a goal to get rid of stuff that I don’t want at the same time. That approach seems to work pretty well for me and ensures that I never fall into the blurry lines of hoarding. ha!
