Beautiful Lies

I slipped away last week for a long weekend in New Jersey. There was some (private) business to attend to but there was also built in time with a few friends. Not enough time and I didn’t get to see everyone, but I saw who I could with the time I had and that’s what counts.

Friday was a really long, semi-painful day and by evening time, I was more than happy to escape out to an old hangout to see my friends’ band play. The time catching up a bit before they played was so welcome but even more so, so was the live music the whole evening.

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen any live music and every time I do, I’m reminded why I need more of it in my life.

Anyway, this isn’t the first, second, or I’m sure even last time I talk about Birdy.

The world’s so fast and nothing lasts

Let’s save it while we can

When the music floats right over you like a wave in the sea, you can’t help but be drawn in time and time again.

As I sat on the floor in my friend’s guest room Saturday afternoon listening to “Beautiful Lies,” I just felt insanely connected. To the music, the lyrics, and the moment.

I wish that I had the strength to let go, but I don’t

I’m paralyzed

The past week has been overwhelming in many ways and I continue to find myself questioning many different directions, paths, and choices.

What song are you feeling connected to right now?

    Her voice is amazing!

I’m sorry it wasn’t the best week for you… I felt the same way last week. I’ve actually been listening to a lot of rock lately, although this week I switched to Harry Connick Jr. because I’ll see him in concert on Thursday!

I am feeling connected to a lot of songs by K’naan right now. I feel like it’s speaking about a family member who needs help right now. Song of his songs are exactly how I feel about the situation right now. I love music; it’s one of my forms of therapy!

I have been hooked on Lauren Daigle for the past week or so. Her songs are humbling and uplifting at the same time. I love all kinds of music, so I cannot pick a specific song.

Music is such great therapy. It just takes you away and can put you in the frame of mind you need. I would say I connect well with Hawaiian music. I am originally from Hawaii. When I am feeling like I can’t breath or missing my mom, I play the Hawaiian music. It puts me in a better frame of mind and picks me up.
