I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas filled with lots of family, friends and love. If you don’t celebrate, then I hope you had a lovely, relaxing and fun weekend. 🙂 I drove back to Illinois Friday afternoon. I ended up leaving work earlier than planned as bad weather was on the radar. I’m happy to say that I seemed to miss most of it and only caught up to the snow for the last 30 minutes or so of my drive, which was nice.
Anyway, it’s hard to believe we’re in our final week of 2016. This has definitely been a difficult year for me and it seems that most people I know would agree with me. I’m not going to say there hasn’t also been a lot of good, because their has. I have grown so much this year and for that I am grateful, but I am definitely looking forward to the fresh start, space and energy that comes with a new year for everyone.
I’ve hinted several times that some changes are coming to the blog, and that still holds true, but some of the biggest changes won’t be for another little while. I’m a bit behind on some of that so you’ll have to bear with me, but I can share a few of the smaller changes now…
1. Posting Schedule
I will only be posting 3 days / week moving forward. TLSM is weeks away from being 6 years old (how crazy is that) and I have posted 5 days/week most weeks. That’s a lot of content! I’m hoping that this reduced schedule will allow me to better promote the great content that exists and that I’m creating (i.e. new and old content), dive into some new and exciting projects outside the blog space, and find a greater work-life balance (something I’ve done pretty well finding in my full-time job, but not always so much in this blog world).
2. Music Mondays
This will be my last official Music Monday on TLSM. That’s not to say I won’t still share music picks with you from time to time, especially when a new album comes out that I’m super excited about, but I’m shifting and my career is shifting, and as such, so is my focus. I love music so much, please don’t get me wrong, but from a career standpoint, that passion isn’t there. I’ve been keeping a toe in the industry for years and trying different approaches and nothing has felt quite right, this is something that I can no longer deny, so I’m acknowledging my heart and gut on this one and retiring the Music Monday series seems to be part of this process.
With all that said, I thought it would be fitting to wrap up the new year and the final Music Monday with “Born Again” by Josh Garrels. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
How was your holiday weekend? What did you do?

Yeah I can’t believe you’ve been doing 5 post/week for almost 6 years! I’ve struggled with even 1/week recently! I think it does help to scale back though if you want to promote old content. 🙂
Also I thought this post was going to be different with the title..I was super curious about “born again” haha

I’m attempting something similar in the New Year. While my blog post frequency was higher in 2016, I want to focus on quality over quantity in 2017. Thanks for sharing the tunes, I’m not familiar with this band or the song 🙂 excited for all that’s to come for you and this blog space in the New Year!! Hope you had a very happy holiday <3

I can’t believe you have been posting 5 times most weeks. I struggle getting 3 days a week, but it is a very good number.

I like your new goals and the fact that you are listening to yourself with reducing certain things in your life. Thats such a healthy way to go about it! Great post.
Im only posting 3 days a week starting in Feb once the baby is here. I think 3 days a week is a good number
I like the idea of posting less. I’ve been on this momentum of posting 5x/week also in fear that if I don’t keep up the momentum, I’ll lose it entirely. (This happened a few years ago. Once I stopped posting as frequently, I went weeks without coming back to the blog).
I think having a set schedule – like you have planned for 2017 – is definitely a great way to go about it. I should consider this as one of my goals is to be more mindful, less focused on marketing the blog, and more focused on content!
