I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! They always go too fast, don’t they? After a few warmer days last week, we got that fall chill back this weekend and admittedly, I soaked up every moment I could. With my windows wide open to fill my apartment with that cool air, long pants and light sweaters, walks outside, and of course, pumpkin pancakes on the patio Saturday morning.
If you can’t tell, it was a relatively chill weekend and I couldn’t have had it any other way. A couple people asked me at work on Friday if I had any grand plans, to which I responded, “nope” with a massive smile on my face. I really live for the relaxing weekends, in a way I never really have before. Sure I spend time writing and working on blog related tasks, running errands, fitting in workouts, and cleaning my apartment, everything moves at a slower pace and I don’t feel the rush to get from A to B to C, if that makes any sense.
Friday night was spent on the couch watching Gossip Girl (don’t judge) and cross stitching. Yes, you read that right. I am working on a very special quilt for my grandmother and part of it requires cross stitch. I’ve been working on this and keeping it a secret for awhile, but I’ve slowly decided to tell people, because there really is no reason to keep it a secret anymore. My grandmother used to cross stitch and quilt, and she hasn’t been able to do this for years. She has very severe Alzheimer’s and is currently on hospice, and while she may not understand the significant meaning behind this project, I hope when I gift it to her, even for a brief moment she can feel all of the love and energy that went into something meant to bring her comfort, even when we can’t all be around her. My goal is to have it finished by Christmas, but there is still a long way to go, so we’ll see how I do.
Anyway, I want to also celebrate a new Norah Jones’ album! ‘Day Breaks’ was released on Friday and when I saw that, I was so excited. I have been a fan for years and my only regret is that I didn’t get to meet her when I was working in the industry and one of the producers managed by my company was working on her album and I was managing the budget. I am really not a believer in regrets, so it’s not really a regret, but rather a “how cool would it have been if that could have happened?” haha
With that, today I wanted to share “Carry On” from her new album for the #MusicMonday portion of the post. Aside from the song being a classic Norah Jones song, the video is super sweet, so I know you’ll enjoy it. 🙂
How was your weekend?
Anyone else LOVING this fall weather as much as I am?
Linking up with Katie for MIMM.

Sounds like such a fabulous weekend! I enjoyed the Norah Jones video greatly; her voice and style has matured so much since her debut album.
I love that you’re making a quilt for your grandmother. I think the time and detail of making such a thoughtful gift will be cathartic ?
I love this tribute to your grandmother…a labor of love…and one that will in the future provide comfort and warmth to you and your family! Good luck finishing as I know (a fellow quilter/sewing lover!) the patience it takes.

I have never listened to Norah Jones before and now I’m obsessed with her voice! Thanks for sharing that song – I seriously have to go find more of her music for work tomorrow.
My weekend was busy, but great. Love that Norah song! I also wish I could quilt. Such a sweet idea.

I hadn’t heard this song before but I really like it.
Aw such a cute idea to be making the gift for your grandma, regardless it’s the thought and meaning behind your work that counts. And no judging, I absolutely love gossip girl!

I hope the present for your grandmother makes her happy. My grandmother had it too and it’s really sad when they start forgetting things especially people. It’s so nice of you to still be there for her through this ?
You literally just made my day by telling me Norah Jones has a new album out! Good luck on your project and nothing wrong with a gossip girl marathon.

I love what you are doing for your grandma <3 what an incredibly thoughtful and meaningful gift that is.
I love quiet weekends too–they seem to come so infrequently so I totally relish them 🙂

What you are doing for your grandmother is precious! Regardless if she understands what this gift means, you will always know what it was able to give you in the process, and that is huge! I hope you will share it once you have completed it!
