Celebrating Bake Cookies Day

Tis the season for sweets and cookies galore so it’s a good thing today is Bake Cookies Day!

One of my favorite memories growing up was when my mom, sister and I would go over to my grandma’s house and all bake cookies. My great aunt was usually there as well and we would spend the entire day baking cookies for every Christmas celebration that year.

We would make Peanut Butter Blossoms, M&M cookies, spritz cookies, and more!

My sister and I would have to make sure that we each got to put the same number of Hershey’s kisses in the peanut blossoms and we’d sneak as many extra kisses and M&Ms as we could. It was one of my favorite traditions growing up.

I don’t get this same big baking day anymore but I usually try to make a batch or two of a cookie that I can eat and enjoy during the holidays, while there are often other treats that don’t fit within my dietary restrictions. With that said, I did a little scoping around Pinterest and these are my top contenders…

Yum! I agree–its hard for me to find yummy cookies to bake that are dairy free and gluten free (and egg free if my niece is having some) but these look like some great options!
Every year, my sisters, my niece, my aunt, and my mom get together shortly after Thanksgiving and bake Christmas cookies as a kick off to the Christmas season! We used to do it with my grandmother so we continued the tradition!

My mom is not a fan of baking cookies (unneeded sugar) but that was mainly due to how many we would receive from others! My favorite are the ritz crackers that are made into peanut butter sandwiches and then dipped in chocolate. A little sweet, a little salty, and absolutely perfect.

The first picture makes me want to go in the kitchen and bake some cookies for me and my BF. I should learn how to bake more often but the several times, I have tried, I ended up eating everything when it was still warm. Should give it a try now that I have more time on my hands this holiday.

    Nice weekend!
