I’ve talked about my daily routines a few times before, but I haven’t focused on them so I thought it was finally time to take a closer look at my evenings.

I get home from work between 5 and 5:30 and the moment I walk in the door, I’m usually starving so I put down my bag and head straight to the fridge to cook dinner. I usually prep most of my dinners so they come together quickly, with only needing to heat it up or cook some eggs or fish to go along with it.

While I eat dinner, I often bring up Netflix and watch something while I eat. During this time I’ll also catch up on my emails and social media. If I need to finish up a blog post for the next day, I’ll work on that during this time too.

Evenings are my time to do whatever I need to do, whether that be errands or blogging or cleaning the apartment, but usually around 8 or 8:30, I start winding down my evening. My doctors put me back on birth control and this is when I take it, but at the same time, I also take Black Cohosh, a supplement to help balance hormones.

About 30 minutes before I want to go to bed, I heat up some water and mix it with a ½ tsp of Natural Calm magnesium. The warm water plus the addition of the magnesium helps me relax and unwind before going to sleep.

When it’s time for bed, I drop some lavender essential oil in my diffuser, turn it on, and climb into bed.

It may seem simple, but this routine brings me a sense of peace and helps provide consistency amongst busy schedules.

    Every time I think to put some lavender in a diffuser or underneath my pillow, I get side tracked and it never happens. THANK YOU for reminding me of this that I must put the bottle somewhere I’m lucky to see it so that I can enjoy the benefits from it.
    That and magnesium. I need to start some of that stuff.

    I just got a diffuser and can’t wait to try it. Your relaxing tea sounds wonderful, sounds like a nice way to wind down and let your mind and body start to relax.

    I find having a consistent routine makes everything run smoother. Glad to see we’re not the only house that loves to eat dinner with Netflix. Well until we had kids, now it’s a special treat to dinner in front of the tv. Haha.
