Committed

Do you remember my commitment?

Do you remember one of my fitness goals for 2013?

Consider me committed!

photo-188That’s right.  I’ve officially signed up for my first 1/2 marathon – the 2013 Lincoln Presidential 1/2 Marathon in Springfield, IL April 6th – 4 days before my 26th birthday!

2013 is going to be a big year for me – I can feel it and I’m so excited for it!

But this isn’t going to come easy – it’s going to work and perseverance and learning and listening to my body.  It’s going to be hard and it’s going to be a journey but it’s one I’m willing and excited to take and share with you all.

As for my training, I’ve been maintaining my mileage for the last few weeks and trying to add in an extra run or two where possible to get my body used to running more.  But ultimately, next week I’ll start my official training and for that I’ll be following Hal Higdon’s  Novice 1 – 1/2 Marathon Training Plan.  He hasn’t let me down so far so I’m putting my trust in these programs again.

43832011I’m committed to my training.  I’m committed to doing what’s right to prepare my body and mind.  I’m committed to successfully completing a 1/2 marathon before I turn 26.

Have you ever completed a 1/2 marathon? Any tips?

What are you committed to?

Haven’t run a race yet, but Calee is pushing for it…and maybe I should. I am inspired by everyone who commits! I practically train anyways…but for some reason I hesitate to put any sort of label on it. I like ‘just running like Forrest’….running to run.

I feel like every blogger I follow is training for a half marathon…it is SO motivating! I really am thinking about signing up for one before the weather gets too hot… Good luck to you- I’m excited to hear about your journey!

Congratulations! I am doing my first half marathon on February 24th (Disney Princess Half Marathon). I’m using the Jeff Galloway training method. It’s three runs a week with off days or cardio/abs days between. I am scared and super excited at the same time. The farthest distance I am training to is 10-12 miles. I know the adrenaline and excitement will carry me through the rest of the race. I wish you the best of luck on your half!

Hi! Congrats on your commitment and dedication Katie! Also on your first Half Marathon! Good Luck!
I too ran on commitment day, and I also just last week registered for my first Half Marathon.
Mine is in The Cleveland Marathon on May 19th. I am training for that. My longest run, ( 3 weeks ago ) was 10 miles.
I ran 8 miles in cold and snow last Sunday. I am 58 years old and started actually running last February.
I am down about 50 pounds in a year and a half of regular exercising. So good for you! May we both finish
the 13.1 miles and finish strong!
