Creating A Chain of Betters

I’ve been quite surprised how the start of November this year has been quite bittersweet for me; it marks the beginning of last year’s 50 States In A Year project, where I set out to not only travel to every state in a single year but more importantly, to raise money for a different charity every month. It was a way for me to combine my love for travel and desire to give back, while simultaneously hoping to inspire others to give back as well.

We all know by now that the project ended early but that doesn’t mean it failed and it doesn’t mean the desire to help others has gone away. In fact, it’s the complete opposite.

I ended up visiting 88 different CrossFit gyms, talked to thousands of people, and as a collective, we were able to raise over $27,000 for 10 various charities.

If that’s not a successful project, I don’t know what is.

And it’s left me with this continued hunger to help others, give back, and find a way to do more with everyday to make my own dreams, as well as the dreams of others out there, come true.

Added bonus - you'll feel like Wonderwoman!

For each of us, that dream looks a little different.

And for each of us, how we can give back will look a bit different.

But imagine what can happen when we take the step to help others; what can happen when we give a little, because really, we have so much.

This is what lies at the heart of the new (Western Union) Chain of Betters project. It’s an idea that empowers people with the opportunity to change the lives of others. As the money moves around the world, creating a chain of good deeds, together we can start to change lives in ways we wouldn’t have imagined was possible. This isn’t just saying money moves for better. This is proving it, together.

I’m proud of what I was able to accomplish last year but know that I’m not done making my impact on the world and helping others. (That was the whole idea behind the shirt, after all.)

We all have the ability to do something that starts a chain reaction; Or rather, a Chain of Betters.

How would you make the world better for others?
