Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fun weekend and has something to look forward to this week to get you through your Monday. As I’m just settling in after my trip to Los Angeles, I thought I would make today pretty light and play a little catch up with you. Let’s hop into this month’s currently post.

Note: I wrote this before my trip. No judgements.

READING:

To be expected, I’ve still been reading a bunch of yoga books. Honestly, I’m not a very fast reader so it’s taking me awhile to get through some of them but it’s nice to go for an easy walk on the treadmill with a book after a long day at the office and of course, reading makes some of the best in-flight entertainment.

WATCHING:

I can’t say I’ve been enjoying it but I have been watching this season of The Bachelor. Sometimes admitting that makes me cringe but it’s my guilty pleasure. I’ll save you all from the details but let’s just say, I’m really underwhelmed but curiosity makes me keep tuning in each week. ABC, you win.

LISTENING TO:

I already have 2 audiobooks done for the month. Linchpin by Seth Godin and The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. At the time I’m writing this, I’m not sure what my next audiobook is going to be but I have a backlog of podcasts to catch up on, so I’m at no shortage of things to listen to, that’s for sure.

EATING/DRINKING:

I’m trying to be better about adding in more whole foods and less processed stuff. It’s been a work in progress. Somehow I seem to have slipped into mostly reaching for convenience and packaged things and while that’s fine once and awhile, I know those foods don’t actually make me feel my best. Plus, they’re more expensive so I’m trying to work my way back to eating the foods that truly fuel my body. With yoga teacher training taking up an entire day of my weekend, it’s hard to convince myself to spend hours in the kitchen Saturday food prepping when I’d rather spend it doing something fun or with people I care about. I’m taking baby steps now but I’m hopeful I can get back into the swing of things soon.

PLANNING:

I can’t believe I’m going to say this…but my practical yoga exam! Actually, it’s already been planned out so now I’m really trying to drill it into my mind, feel comfortable teaching the flow and accompanying cues, and building out a playlist to go along with it. CRAZY.

FEELING:

Overwhelmed. Truthfully. I’m reminding myself that it’s (mostly) good things and I’m hopeful that when you’re reading this, I’ll actually be feeling a bit more relaxed, grounded, and clear.

LOVING:

Meditation. I know this can’t be the first time I’ve said this but sitting down on my cushion or laying in my bed and taking a few minutes each day to tune in with myself is an absolute must. I’m planning to share one of my new favorite mantras soon but for now, I’m just loving the practice. When I’m feeling overwhelmed or anxious, I often find that what I really need is a few minutes to tune back in with myself, and when I stop and think about it, it was probably something I hadn’t been doing consistently. I’ve been putting “meditate” on my to-do list lately as a reminder that this practice is something to prioritize each day.

TRYING:

To clear out the clutter. Lately, I feel like my closet, dressers, drawers, and everything you can think of is bursting at the seams. No doubt that part of this is because of that previously mentioned feeling of overwhelm, but the desire to clean, declutter, and purge old clothes, shoes, and other random items in my apartment is definitely present. And slowly but surely, I think it’s going to happen.

LEARNING:

Still all things yoga! Let’s get real, until this yoga teacher training is over, this is going to be my answer. And even after, it still probably will be from time to time because yoga is a practice of constant learning and self discovery.
