Moving back home has allowed me a lot more free time (per se). See, as I’ve mentioned (more times than I can probably count), I’m here to study and take the test to become a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. And as I’ve also mentioned many times, this is quite the change of career paths for me from managing bands.
When you spend your whole life knowing what you want to do, suddenly having a change of heart is nothing to take lightly but rather requires you to spend a lot of time considering and going over. There were many things that I loved about the music industry and managing bands, but there were also several things I didn’t like and ultimately, the negatives outweighed the positives (for me). More than anything, I was losing my passion for it and that’s just not okay.
I was at work yesterday talking to MamaShip (the mother of the family who owns the coffee shop I work at) and when she found out I went to school for music she asked if I play an instrument. I told her I used to sing. Her response was “honey, you never stop singing!” So I corrected myself and told her I sing to the radio but really, I went to manage bands and that is something that I used to do. (And as I think I’ve mentioned before, I would probably only do again for a band that gave me the same feeling The Lumineers did 5 years ago.)
So where am I going with this?

I already made my dreams come true. <–Who can say that at 25 years of age?
I used to want to be a singer but I realized that wasn’t the right path for me and so then I used to say: If I can’t make my own dreams come true, I’m going to make someone else’s. <–I did that!
So in my 25th year, I’m already working on my second dream. In a world where so many may never see their first dream come to fruition, I am reminded of how lucky I am. But also, I’m reminded of how if I set my mind on something and I really want it, I can make it happen.
So NASM CPT, I’m going to keep studying my little heart out and when the time comes, I’m going to kick butt!
And potential GRE, I’m going to kick yours too!
And potential grad school applications, you’re next in line!

Are we getting a vision for my potential future yet? 😉
What’s your dream? And have you made it come true?
If yes, congratulations!
If not yet, keep pushing and making things happen – I believe in you!

YEAH!! Love this!! And trust me- I am jealous that you realized your DREAM and took the steps to make it happen at 25. I wish I had the courage to pursue mine a LONG time ago- but hey, better late than never right?
You’ll kick that NASM exam’s ass and be an amazing trainer in no time!!
And yes- NEVER STOP SINGING.
ABSOLUTELY better late than never and you’re really not late. At least not in my opinion. I’m so proud of you and I can’t wait until we can celebrate our achievements soon! 🙂
i definitely believe in second dreams. i have one too! and i’m living it. and i love the lumineers!
Isn’t it amazing when you can say you’re living your dream? But even more, you’re already on to your next one? (And you’re welcome for the lumineers- ha! 😉 )

Love this post!!! So inspiring! And what a great way to look at your life and career paths. I did NASM a few years ago, good luck. Not too hard just lots of remembering!! I’m still working on my dreams. Some have definitely come true.
LOTS of remembering and so far that’s been my biggest struggle but I get there. And I’m so glad you liked the post – keep making your dreams come true! You got this! 🙂
You are so incredible! I can’t wait to see what all you accomplish over the next couple years!! You will do great on the exam and be a great PT, you will kick the GRE’s butt, and you will ACE grad school! 🙂 I have a dream of doing some sort of nutrition degree in the future!
I could totally see you getting a nutrition degree! Sometimes I can’t believe how many things I want to accomplish over the next few years – it’s crazy!!
