For my third half marathon, I’m trying to be better about incorporating speed and hill work into my training. I’m not necessarily looking to PR but looking to train smart and hard and get the most out of my training.
There’s also no denying it, I’m not the fastest runner. I’m okay with that. I’m not looking to be the fastest, I run because I enjoy it but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to work on getting faster. I feel like every time I find speed workouts, they start at my top pace so when I set out for my run last week, I created my own speed workout with my pace and something I knew I could do but would also challenge me.
This was a great workout and a great way for me to start building speed work into my training. Because let’s be real, if I want to keep getting better, it’s time to put in that little something extra…
Do you build speed work into your training?
