I feel like most months we find ourselves saying “I can’t believe how quickly this month went by” but I can’t say I feel the same about January. I have seen a few memes in the last few weeks about how long January is and heard it mentioned on a few podcasts, so apparently I’m not the only one who felt it.
January had some highlights but was also pretty stressful. I’m feeling the end of yoga teacher training coming and there are a few things at work weighing on me pretty heavily. I felt like I had to be a lot more mindful of where I was mentally, what I needed, and how to best keep my general feelings of overwhelm at bay. I’m grateful for my freelance editors for being understanding and allowing me to take some time away while I catch up on life a bit.
With that said, let’s look back on my goals for the month as I was pretty successful in completing most of them:
Get my fitness and “diet” back on track (consider joining a gym again vs just using the apartment fitness center, more healthy fruits and veggies, less sugar and processed foods)I didn’t end up joining a gym but I’ve been working from home more and clocking out for a lunch break to get in a run or workout for the days when it didn’t work for me to workout before or after work. My nutrition is also getting better. There’s still room for improvement because I love granola and could probably live off it if someone would let me, but more smoothies, salads, and paying attention to my hunger cues and if I’m actually hungry or just eating because it’s “time.”- Grow my Instagram account to 1800 (be engaging and engaged myself) I did grow my account but not to where I was hoping it would be. I know this is an area I could really use more focus. Honestly, I think part of this is due to not being totally clear on my niche, message and what I really want to share with the world. I’m working on figuring that out and for now, I just want to continue to be active, play around, and see what really resonates.
Put away holiday decor (and work on decluttering in general)I got all of my holiday decor put away and have a box of old clothes in my trunk waiting for a trip to Plato’s Closet and then to the donation pile. I feel a little better not having it sitting on the floor of my bedroom anymore, but I am still feeling it’s pressure knowing it’s in my trunk. haha I hope to continue decluttering and getting rid of clothes that don’t fit well anymore, I don’t wear, or that are getting old and run down.Read 2 books (I hope to actually double this number)I actually MORE than doubled this number! I read 5 books this month! 🙂
Now onto my goals for February and what I’m hoping to achieve this month:
- Complete my yoga teacher training practical exam (and feel really proud of myself with how it goes – it’s 2/25)
- Read 3 books
- Travel to LA with the boy, see friends and have a fun & relaxing trip
- Begin ½ marathon training & stick to my plan
What are your goals for the month ahead? Did January feel long to you too?
