Well, I survived Mardi Gras in New Orleans!
I’m not entirely sure how and while it was exhausting at times, it was also really fun and now I can say I’ve done Mardi Gras in Nola. Bucket list item (that I didn’t know was on it), has been crossed off! 😉
A week in New Orleans also made for a decent amount of walking, which was nice. That’s always been one of my favorite things about living in or visiting different cities, using my legs to see the city. Yeah it’s nice to drive and all from time to time, but I just love to explore cities on my feet and find little shops to pop into and start chatting with people you may not otherwise run into.
One of the really cool things about Mardi Gras in New Orleans is that people come from all over to celebrate and everyone is always asking about where you’re from, what you do, etc. It was a great opportunity to tell people about the 50 States In A Year project and we definitely made some new friends doing so!

I’m really happy that despite a busy week of trying to relax and have some fun, while still being completely exhausted, I was able to fit in a few great workouts!
I can’t wait to see how you all have been able to stay active this week! Don’t forget to linkup your workouts below or leave them in the comments. Also don’t forget to shout out for help if you need motivation or ideas for new workouts!

gosh, you are totally making me miss Nola! I hope you had a blast at Mardi Gras, i was sad to miss it this year! I love walkable/bike-able New Orleans is. As long as the weather was nice I biked everywhere!!! The grocery store, starbucks, downtown to the shops at canal for Sunday yoga! It was awesome!!
We had a blast but definitely overwhelming at times! I think it would have been more fun to go around with someone who knows the area or who had done Mardi Gras before, but regardless we had fun and now are totally exhausted!
You ladies are too freaking cute! Especially with the matching skirts and sweater headbands!!
I call dibs on borrowing one of the skirts..for..something. Anything. 🙂
Woot Fitness Friday!
We were FREEZING and left our gloves and ear warmers in the RV not realizing it was going to be THAT cold so we had to stop and buy some! 😉
One of my friends from college was there for Mardi Gras this year! I’ve only been to New Orleans once around January of 2013. I enjoyed it!
It was definitely fun and also beautiful!
I don’t think I could count any walking I did around New Orleans as fitness, because I stopped almost every block to eat that delicious food that’s everywhere! =)
Well there’s that…BUT it at least made me feel a bit better. Like I was kind of walking off the beignets and hurricanes! 😉
