Fitness Friday – Love Your Abs

Okay, first of all, how did no one notice this last week?  Did you still not notice? Someone get me (and maybe you!) another cup of coffee…we’re LONG past August…! 😉

Second, can you believe it’s officially FEBRUARY?!  January seemed to fly by for me, which was both good and bad I guess.  I’m definitely still working towards living my healthiest and happiest year yet.

Anyway, I decided I wanted to do something fun for February – change things up a bit.  A couple months ago, Tina did a fun core challenge which I absolutely loved because my core is definitely my “trouble spot” or the point where I feel the most self conscious.  When I’m consistent with working out these muscles, I feel like there’s a difference – both visually but also with how I feel about it (which personally for me, is the most important).

So for the month of February I’m going to focus on strengthening my core, on working my core musculature and most important, learning to love my core!  And I’m calling it Love Your Abs February!

You can feel free to join me or you can take it as motivation to spend the month learning to love your “trouble spot.”  If you want to join me in loving your abs, be sure to tune in each Tuesday for a few of my favorite ab exercises and workouts (some may be mine, some from friends or other sources and some may be new to all of us).

Now, on to my weekly workouts:

Screen Shot 2013-01-31 at 4.29.32 PMI have to admit it was a kind of rough week for my training.  Each workout felt great but I had to do some major shifting.  First I pushed back Saturday’s long run to Sunday; which meant I pushed back Sunday’s strength training to Monday; Monday’s run was tough so I pushed back the strength training again to Tuesday; Tuesday’s workout was awesome – no complaints; Wednesday’s workout was cancelled due to a severe headache; and since Wednesday became a rest day, Thursday’s rest day was supposed to be Wednesday’s workout but after an asthma attack at work, it stayed a rest day and Wednesday is lost in the shuffle.  Did you follow all that? 😉  The person in me that wants to stick to a schedule just finds that difficult, but I was listening to my body and honestly that’s the most important thing!

Awesome idea! I will totally join you. I know my abs are somewhere underneath my belly. I love them, but I sure hope they show their face sometime soon. This is great motivation to convince them to come out to play! 🙂 Found you through #healthyself–glad to have found your blog! 🙂

You should take that photo and blow it up, print it out and post it so you can see it for the next 28 days. I am sure you will love your abs even more if you did so. 🙂

Oh girl, that last little bit confused me. 🙂 This is why I don’t know about every trying to do any official training…

Regardless, I am impressed with not only the fact that you have a training schedule at all, but that you are adapting it as your body needs. I am not really very good about that. Yesterday, I thought I was too sore to run, but I got going, and then I was in the headspace and just didn’t stop. I don’t know if that is good or bad, but I’m still walking today, so I guess I’ll take it!

Ab work is one thing I NEVER do, but definitely something I should do. Overall I just feel like I’m not strength training and conditioning like I should, but I also never make changes…

I had a weird workout week, too. I think I over-did it at the gym on Wednesday. So Wednesday night I thought I had been hit by a truck. I felt better yesterday, so decided to hit the gym for cardio and upper body work. This morning was rough. I think a rest day is calling my name. Perfect timing though–I love rest days on the weekend. 🙂
