Foodie for a Day // CrunchDaddy Popcorn

I had the pleasure of winning some “contest” via Twitter a couple weeks ago and ended up winning a sample of CrunchDaddy Popcorn.  I didn’t really know what to expect but I do know that popcorn is one of my favorite dinners snacks.

They sent me a sample of 5 different flavors:

-Peanut Butter Crunch

-Honey and Cinnamon Crunch

-White Cheddar Horseraddish Crunch

-Ginger Sesame Crunch

-Maple Bacon Crunch*

(*For those of you who know I’m a vegetarian, you know the Maple Bacon one was handed off to others…)

I was super excited when they box came in the mail and had a hard time not digging right in but I decided that I wanted to truly enjoy the popcorn and while a “taste” of each was okay, stuffing my face with all the popcorn in one sitting, was not the best way to enjoy it.

-Honey and Cinnamon Crunch — I think this was my favorite!  I loved the way the popcorn stuck together and it was like eating a mini popcorn ball.  So delicious, chewy and sweet.

-Peanut Butter Crunch — This was the one that I was looking forward to eating the most.  It tastes like kettle corn coated in a light peanut butter powder.  It’s yummy but I couldn’t help finding myself wanting more peanut butter.  I’m the girl you catch eating peanut butter off a spoon, so the more peanut butter, the better in my opinion.  It was still delicious, but don’t skimp on the peanut butter!

-Ginger Sesame Crunch — I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one, but it was so good!  It was one of those that I didn’t really know what to expect from it but once I started eating it, I had a hard time stopping.  It had the chewy, stickiness of the honey and cinnamon crunch that I loved.

-White Cheddar Horseradish Crunch – A pleasant surprise!  I was afraid of this one for two reasons: cheese and horseradish.  I like cheese but my body does not and I’m not sure I’ve ever had horseradish; that was one of those things I grew up avoiding because it doesn’t sound good.  Well, this popcorn WAS good! And turned out to be the only one I ate and shared.  (I ate the others before they could be shared).  And my friend Amy loved it!  I let her keep what was left…there wasn’t that much. 😉

-Maple Bacon Crunch – Now while all the others I can give my own personal opinion, this becomes more complicated because I don’t eat meat.  But while I wouldn’t try this myself because of the bacon, I expected this to be a crowd pleaser and was surprised when some of my friends were a little skeptical.  And it turns out, this got mixed reviews among my “taste-testers.”  Some didn’t care for it while others loved it.  To each his own.

Anyway, at the end of the day, I think CrunchDaddy is on to something!  And after perusing their website, I’m interested to try the other flavors too, especially the Caramel & Peanut Crunch and the CHOCOLATE & PEANUT BUTTER Crunch!! WHAT?!

The sampler that she won included our five most popular flavors. We currently have ten flavors in all and only one of them is made with chocolate.

Whopsie, this probably sounded offensive when it was meant tongue-in-cheek as a back reference to chocolate obsessions…mea culpa.

No worries, Dave! We’re chocolate=obsessed as well. Unfortunately, combining high-quality chocolate with popcorn is problematic on several levels. That’s why so many companies produce chocolate “drizzled” popcorn using that inferior, waxy pseudo-chocolate gunk that we refuse to use (compound chocolate). Our “Chocolate & Peanut Butter Crunch” uses ground chocolate from Ghirardelli… to a peanut butter cup effect… I think you’d both enjoy it!!
