Foodie for a Day // Uncle Sam Cereal

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be contacted by Attune Foods asking if I’d like to try and review their Uncle Sam cerealOf course I would!

They sent two boxes: Original and Strawberry.

My first thought was “yes, cereal for dinner!”  Well, I’m trying not to let myself in that habit as often as we know it can happen, but this is one of those cereals that you don’t have to feel bad about eating.  With only a few simple and real ingredients per box, how could you go wrong?

Attune Foods understands that what matters most is what’s inside and our overall health starts with our digestive health.  Each cereal starts with hard red winter wheat berries that are rolled, toasted and flattened and mixed with flaxseeds.  Each serving of Uncle Sam cereal has 10 grams of fiber, 7 grams of protein and less than 1 gram of sugar.

Like I said, you don’t have to feel bad about eating it.

But I guess the real question, comes down to taste.  Could something that’s this good for you actually taste good?

Simple answer: YES!

This cereal is flexible.

I topped some Original on a salad with fresh veggies and a light balsamic.

I made a mixed cereal bowl starring Uncle Sam Strawberry.

I made a yogurt bowl with vanilla greek yogurt, berries and Uncle Sam Original.

And I just finished a bowl of Uncle Sam Strawberry with soy milk.

All delicious.  All simple.  All healthy.  All consumed without feeling bad.

So what am I going to do with the rest of the cereal?  Continue to eat it, of course!

Well, that and figure out how to use it as a french toast crust…(more to come?)
