Future Race Calendar

I’m always happy when I can say I’ve been bit by the running bug.  I’m also always happy when I have a really amazing run after a not so great run, allowing me to better appreciate what my body is able to do.  And after an awful 2 miler Tuesday, I was so happy when I was able to run 3 1/2 miles on Wednesday and felt great.  In fact, if time weren’t an issue, I may have kept going.

IMG_1774There’s really no better feeling.

And honestly, it’s a good thing I’ve got the running bug because just last night I signed up for my next race.  I’m excited that I’ve been able to maintain my goal of a race a month in 2013 and with only a few months left in the year, it’s looking positive I just may hit that goal.  In fact, here’s what my race calendar looks like:

Did you catch that?

That’s right! I signed up for my second 1/2 marathon race and I’m so excited! A few of my beautiful midwest Blends wanted to run the 1/2 or full marathon and I was talked into joining.  But in all honesty, I was looking at 1/2 marathons in the fall anyway and this just gives me a reason to see some friends.  It doesn’t get any better.

IMG_1416With that, it means I’m in training mode and my workouts are going to be pretty similar and consistent for the next couple of weeks.  I’ll be working on increasing my mileage once again and be sure to incorporate more stretching, foam rolling and yoga. (MUST add more yoga!)

Once again, I’ve chosen to follow the Hal Higdon Novice 1 training plan.  While the goal of my first 1/2 marathon was to cross the finish line (and I did!), my goal for this one is to cross the finish line while on zero asthma medication.  To some this may seem small but in the last few months I have successfully taken myself off my daily asthma medication without needing my rescue inhaler.  It is my goal to successfully train and complete this 1/2 marathon while keeping my asthma in check.

Do you have any races/events coming up that you’re training for?

What are your goals for those events?

Woohoo for your 2nd half!!! I have issues with asthma while running too. It’s gotten so bad that my chest hurts for 2 days after long runs so I’m almost to the point where it isn’t worth it anymore. BUT, my inhaler helps and I’m still semi-training for a marathon so maybe I’ll have to join you on a few of these races 🙂
