It’s the last day of my 5 Days of Gift Guides. In case you missed any, be sure to check out the Gift Guide for the Fitness Fanatic, Music Enthusiast, Far-Away Friend but most important, the Gift Guide for Gifts that Give Back!
With that, today we’re moving on to gifts for the foodie. Personally I have a few of these things on my list this year and finding any of them under the Christmas tree and I’d be one lucky lady!
1 – A fun cookbook – like this Native Foods Cookbook that is on my list year!
2 – Tea Kettle – Another thing on my list year and in a fun color makes it even better!
3 – Their favorite blend of coffee or tea – I just bought myself a bag of Christmas blend! 😉
4 – Trader Joes/Whole Foods/Other Specialty Market gift card – because let’s get real…what foodie doesn’t enjoy the grocery store?
5 – Grow Your Own Spices – I’m a plant killer, but wouldn’t it be fun to try?
(Disclaimer: Some links will take you to my Amazon store.)
But before we wrap up this What I Ate Wednesday, since I’m not actually showing you what I ate, I figured I’d better at least share a recipe. So for those of you trying to figure out what to do with your fresh-picked apples before they go bad and to find a use for those cranberries, I highly suggest making a super simple applesauce! This was so delicious and made for a great snack after Thanksgiving!
Cranberry Applesauce
Ingredients
- 7 cups of apples (or approx 8 apples)
- 1 ½ cups fresh (or frozen) cranberries
- ⅔ cup water
- Cinnamon + honey to taste
Instructions
Chop apples in to small pieces (you can peel if you’d like but I’m too lazy to do that and I don’t mind the texture the peel adds).
Put apples, cranberries, water, cinnamon + honey in a big pot on the stove on medium heat.
Stir occasionally but keep your eye on it, stirring more frequently as the apples and cranberries soften and everything thickens. Turn off heat.
Enjoy warm or chill in fridge to enjoy cold.
Personally, I love mine warm with a spoonful of peanut butter (because what doesn’t taste better with peanut butter?)
Store leftovers in airtight container in fridge.
What are your favorite foodie gifts?
Or what’s on your Christmas list this year?

I need to read through all of these guides. I have to buy for my mom and sister still and have NO CLUE what to get them. I did buy us tickets to a play… can that count?!
YES tickets count!! And that sounds super fun! I did something similar for my sister (I don’t want to share in case she goes back and ever reads comments..don’t think she does but just in case) but it’ll end up being girl’s night out and I’m so excited! I hope she will be too! 😉
My uncle makes a mean seasoning kit, so that’s always a fun gift. Last year I bought my mom a cutting board in the shape of California. I love looking at the random kitchen utensils you find in Crate & Barrel 🙂
Fun!!
Seriously I need to put applesauce on my list of things to make! After yesterday’s post about apples and this post….it’s happening!!
