Holiday Baking Extravaganza!

I feel like I have so many fun things to share with you today, I don’t even know where to start so to keep you all from getting grossly overwhelmed, some is just going to have to wait.  Sorry…but more reason to come back tomorrow, right? 😉

Anyway, there’s been a lot of baking going on around here and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve got a bit of a taste of what’s been going on.  (Pun intended – ha!)

So what did I make?

525092_834149445869_2017441067_n-2This all started Wednesday when I decided to devote my day to baking 15 loaves of my mom’s famous zucchini bread for Christmas gifts.  Every year she gives our extended family a loaf and to save her some time, I offered to make them.  15 loaves and 10 cups of zucchini later, they were done.  I veered from her recipe a bit but I’m sure no one will be the wiser. 🙂

Lindsay at the Lean Green Bean “healthified” a Christmas cookie favorite – Peanut Butter blossoms and I knew I had to give them a shot.  Turns out, my sister likes them better than the original and has requested I make more! Speaking of Lindsay, she sent me a Starbucks egift card yesterday as a pay-it-forward. It was so unexpected but so appreciated and brought a huge smile to my face. Thanks, Lindsay!

602826_834808310499_1850454256_nI’ve been making Alton Brown’s chocolate peppermint pinwheel cookies ever since the Christmas my Grandma Pat passed away.  It was particularly hard and I dealt with my emotions by doing all of the Christmas baking.  I wanted to try a new recipe and as it turned out, the new recipe became a family favorite.  Unfortunately this year I had some trouble (not sure what happened?) but a batch of pinwheels turned into thumb-print sugar cookies with m&ms pressed in the top to make them festive.  At least they still taste good!

And I made a 1/2 batch of almond bark candy with some red and green sprinkles to make it festive.

I was going to make some festive “birds nests” but there’s a lot of sugary treats around so we’ll see if they’ll actually end up happening.  Otherwise the only other baking I have planned are the cupcakes for our Christmas Eve party, but you’ll have to wait for that until later. 😉

And as a reminder, if you’re looking for something yummy to bake for Christmas morning or for a holiday party – Banana Gingerbread is where it’s at!

Have you been doing any holiday baking?

What have you made?

You did get your holiday baking on very well 😉

You know I made tons of cookies with my family and Anthony’s family! Was fun! Kind of sad I couldn’t eat the dough since I’m pregnant, lol.

Have a great Saturday night and Happy Holidays! <3
