Homemade Make-up Brush Cleaner

I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I don’t remember the last time I cleaned my makeup brushes. That’s a bit gross if you stop and think about it so instead of dwelling on it and grossing myself out, I did something about it.

In the easiest makeup brush cleaner known to man, I got down to business. All you need is 2 parts dish soap to 1 part oil and you have yourself the perfect cleanser!

Move brush around in the cleanser and then run under warm water, rubbing brush in your hand to get out the excess soap (and to watch as all that old makeup seeps out of the bristles). Make sure not to allow water further down the brush so you don’t melt the glue holding everything together. Then dry with the bristles pointing downward, either by hanging on a homemade contraption or propping the ends up on a rolled up towel and letting the bristles fall onto a paper towel.

If I can do it, you can do it…and then we’ll all have clean makeup brushes! 😉

When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes?

Have you ever tried making your own cleaners (or even makeup) before?

I try my best to clean my brushes weekly. But honestly that doesn’t always happen. haha! And most of the time, I just use the Soft Soap brand soap with aloe and I wash em real quick. haha

I’ve been cleaning my make-up brushes with my face wash. Works well on some brushes, not on others. Will have to try the soap + oil method and see if it works better. Thanks for the tip!
