Do you love Instagram as much as I do?
I’m serious, it’s definitely up there as my favorite social media platform (with Facebook trailing shortly behind). I love seeing other people’s pictures and connecting with people from all around the world. Yes, sometimes the spammers get annoying but for the most part, I find it to be less creepy for someone to follow you than when someone tries to “friend” you on Facebook and you don’t know them…am I right?!
[Side note #1 – I updated my Instagram user name the other day – you can now find me @iamkatiearnold!]
Anyway, point being I was really excited a few weeks ago when Hootsuite announced the release on their platform to schedule out posts on Instagram, the first social media scheduler that allowed Instagram integration. This is HUGE for someone who manages multiple social media accounts and needs to schedule out some posts for ease and planning purposes.
[Side note #2 – this is not in any way, shape or form a sponsored post, just me share a really cool tool for my fellow blogger friends!]
I have a free Hootsuite account so with only 3 linked accounts, it took me a few weeks to decide to give it a try but now that I have gone through the process a few times, I’m sold!
To make it even better, while there are a few steps to the process, it really is very easy to implement and incorporate in your current social media scheduling process…and if you don’t use Hootsuite, I assure you, this along is a good reason to start. 😉
1 – Select your Instagram account and upload the desired picture
2 – Type in your text, appropriate hashtags and select desired schedule time
3 – When that time comes around, the Hootsuite app on your phone will alert you to post
4 – Pick your Instagram filter of choice and tap and hold to paste text. This is the perfect time to make any changes you would like to your text and hashtags.
5 – Post and enjoy! It really is that simple!

I use Hootsuite to schedule Instagram posts and while I don’t do this for every post, it’s a great tool to incorporate for your content calendar, especially to promote your daily blog post that you may otherwise forget to do on Instagram… 😉
Do you use any kind of social media content scheduler?

Ah, that explains why you need to turn on push notifications when you link your IG account! I’m just trying it out this week.
YES! I think I have a few glitches to work out as I think my notifications may have been turned off or something, but otherwise, I just love it!
Ohhhh so it’s not an actual automated thing like buffer, right? Interesting. I wonder why Instagram won’t let apps auto-post?
Twitter & Facebook are automated (like Buffer), Instagram is a push notification…I think Instagram just wants to make things complicated for us. 😉
Love Hootsuite!! It’s my favorite for Twitter 🙂 I haven’t tried it with Insta yet!
Yes I started using it for Twitter exclusively (I have a free account so I used my 3 accounts to manage 3 different Twitters) but now that I don’t have as many Twitter’s to manage, I’ve started branching out and love the IG integration!
I am slowly getting around the social media circle. I just got my computer today!!! Thanks so much for sharing

Oooh fun!!
I haven’t tried Instagram on Hootsuite yet, but I definitely should give it a try!
DO IT!
I’ve been reading about hootsuite for some time now and never have taken the time to figure it out and use it! Here’s my motivation 🙂
Oh my gosh, do it! It’s so easy! I don’t even use it to it’s fullest potential but I love it simply for scheduling posts!
I started using Hootsuite a month ago and I love it. I haven’t hooked up Insta yet, but after this post, I think I am going too!
It’s worth at least giving a try, right? 🙂
I’ve been playing around with it too! Thanks for the quick and clear explanation!
Isn’t it fun?! 🙂
What a fantastic post!! I love Hootsuite, and I’ve been debating on starting to use it for Instagram. Love your blog.
Thanks, Eryn!!
Definitely give it a try, if it ends up not working for you, then it’s not a big deal, but if it does, then awesome!
I don’t schedule any Instagram posts – – but I love how you say this could be a great tool for our content calendar!!
I need it mostly for the Instagram posts I want to use to promote that days blog post, otherwise I forget… 😉
