Today’s a big day. Well, at least for me. But before we get there, did you know yesterday was National Coffee Day?! I’m sorry I didn’t wish you a Happy Coffee Day yesterday, but rest assured I did in need celebrate. 😉
Like I said, today’s a big day. You see, I generally run 3 days a week. And if you’ve been reading for awhile, you know I’ve been running for a goal – a 10k. Now before you get too excited, I’m not running a 10k today (in fact I have yet to find one I want to run…heh) but I am running a 5k.
But for me this isn’t just any 5k – this is my first race ever!
I’m not running for speed or to win or anything like that; I’m running to finish, have fun and support a good cause. See today’s run is the Run for the Bear 5k Run/Walk (& 10k run) for the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to eliminate pediatric cancer and support those affected by it.
No child should have to fight such a tough battle, especially when they still have so much life left in them.
So today I run to finish; I run to have fun; I run to help put an end to Pediatric Cancer; I run for hope.
Do you remember this song Melissa Etheridge released after she was diagnosed and fought her battle against breast cancer? I love the power in this song and when the run gets tough today, this is what will be playing in my head.
I run for hope.
Have you ever / would you ever run a race?
What do you run for?

Can’t wait to hear about it 🙂
