I’m Writing Again

I’ve been writing more lately. Maybe not specifically on the blog or for the blog, but in general. When the moment strikes me, I take out my phone and usually just start writing into the notes app on my phone. It takes a lot for me to share these words as they usually stem from something extremely personal but since this blog is called Talk Less, Say More, I figured I better say something worth sharing.

With that said, here’s something I wrote recently…

No one said it would be easy

And I knew it from the start

Most things worth doing will try you

They will send you on a ride

One you never saw coming

So you learn to suck it up

Grow tougher skin

Hold back the tears

And make the tough decisions

The ones that question your pride

And strength

And perseverance

And belief in yourself

In those around you

Belief in what you’re doing

Sometimes it takes going home

To re-ground yourself

To find your way

To remind yourself why you started

Why you challenged the system

The normal way for everyone else

The way that doesn’t suit you

But sometimes we forget

We get caught in the breeze

We drift off course

We lose our direction

And need to find our way back

So that’s when we go home

We plant our feet back on the ground

We see the faces of those we know

Who support and encourage and love

Who know we can do it

Who know we’ll give it all

So I’ll hand you my pride if I must

I’ll show you my fear

My insecurities and worry

But I’ll also show you my strength

My love and my passion

My drive and ambition

And then when you least expect it

When I least expect it

I’ll show you it was worth it all.
