When was the last time you surprised yourself?
Was it when you made it to the gym for the first time in 3 months?
Was it when you came to a surprising realization about something that’s been on your mind?
Was it when something you’re usually able to eat suddenly made you not feel well?
Was it when you practiced patience with your mother, father, sister, brother, or child?
Regardless of what it’s in reference to, surprising ourselves should be welcomed and for me, it most definitely is.
I’ve had a lot on my mind lately, a lot of back and forth and different things to try and work through and figure out. Now don’t get me wrong, I definitely don’t have all of the answers (yet) but I’m getting closer and I’m making choices each day that get me there.
I bring all this up though because I’m walking back from my workout the other day when something hits me like a ton of bricks. Not literally, but mentally, a decision I’ve been wrestling with for awhile.
I find comfort in these decisions and these moments of clarity; comfort in listening to my gut and making decisions based on those feelings; comfort in knowing I’m finding myself again amidst the chaos that once filled me.
So next time you find yourself feeling a little lost and confused, take a deep breath, be kind to yourself, and remember that in time (in your own time), you will start to find the answers. And you never know, you just may surprise yourself.
When was the last time you surprised yourself?
Linking up for Thinking Out Loud.

Wow. I love this! I surprised myself last week when I admitted that maybe the career path I’m on isn’t where I want to be. Do I know anything for sure? No. But I have started planning to make some progress in a different direction. It’s exciting and scary all at once! Best of luck to you 🙂
Oh wow!! Sounds exciting though!
I so needed to read this today, I’ve had so much on my mind recently and I too need to be kind to myself and know that the answers will come when they are ready, when I am ready to come to them.

Thanks, girl!
Love how you said, “You’ll find the answers in your own time.” Such a great reminder for us to not try to cross those bridges before we come to them. I like to use the mantra: At just the right time, I’ll have what I need.” I surprise myself lately at just how much I believe those words. I started saying them to encourage myself, and now I have complete confidence in those statements. Cool how that works, huh?

The mantra in yoga the other day was “I have everything I need” and it’s been in my head for a week now!
I am surprising myself a bit lately with a few things actually… I have actually had crazy motivation to lift weights every day in the gym. Not for hours but for a good 10 – 20 minutes. Not that much, but a little goes a long way for me 😉 And I generally stay closer to 30 minutes at times too cause I get into it – and when I play music, well I have a dance party but of course LOL!

You do you, girl!
I mean not recently. I feel like my life is pretty same old same old.
Sometimes that’s kind of nice. 🙂
Love this! I often find it so hard to relax and allow myself space to calm down and breathe in an overwhelming situations.

I’m very much the same way…my mantra for years has been “just breathe” because of this!
I love that last picture. It’s so important to exhale doubt otherwise you never muster the courage up to do anything. Love this post!

So true! Thanks, girl!
I love this!Such a great outlook. Sometimes when I’m super overwhelmed and then finally give myself the chance to breathe, I get so annoyed that I didn;t do it earlier because it ALWAYS makes things clearer

I think we just build things up in our heads sometimes. Totally understandable.
Yes! I think the last time I really surprised myself was finishing the Whole30. I never thought I would make it, and doubted myself a lot. I really found out how strong and committed that I can be and it was a great surprise.

And you did awesome, girl!
What a great message to share! Sometimes, we get so wrapped up in knowing all the answers and having everything figured out right away. In reality, we need a little time and kindness for ourselves to find those answers we’re looking for!
Exactly!
I think it was 2 weeks ago when I decided to step to the side at my job. I have bigger fish to fry than some of the things I was dealing with, and even though it wasn’t a landmark decision of surprising myself with greatness, it was nice to decide that my happiness was truly worth something.
