I’m sure after Saturday’s news you expect this one. But whether you expected it or not, I think it’s only right to make this week about Whitney Houston.
She was an amazing artist who sadly had her life turned upside down by drugs and a bad relationship. But at the end of it all, she will be remember for her accomplishments and her voice. Oh man, her voice.
I’m a vocalist (oh, did you not know that? oops…) and I’m pretty sure if there’s a song by Whitney Houston, I probably wouldn’t go near it. I’m too afraid of butchering it. I don’t think my voice could do that. (And to my family and friends out there shaking their heads, I’m sorry but it’s true!) She has a power behind her voice that is hard to beat, hard to mimic, and hard to find. She makes it look easy.
We lost an incredible artist.
With that, here are a few of her greatest hits:
This song makes me cry. every.single.time. (Yes I know that’s probably sad)
Among many many others…
And one of my absolute favorites was actually the “When You Believe” duet with Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey for the Prince of Egypt soundtrack. No really, I freakin’ love this…
I’m sorry but these 90s hits are going to be in your head all day. You’re welcome.
RIP Whitney.

I don’t know why, but her death has hit me hard. I cried all morning listening to the memories. Ashanti did an amazing job this morning singing Whitney’s songs. I think I’ll sit down with Morgan and watch The Bodyguard sometime. 🙂 Thanks for paying homage to her.
