Nine Classic Christmas Movies

25 Comments on Nine Classic Christmas Movies

Let’s talk Christmas movies today, because if you’re anything like me then you love cozying up on the couch with a cup of hot tea and watching the (admittedly cheesy) Christmas movies that come on TV or are available to watch on Netflix. So many of them you know the whole story within minutes of it beginning but there’s a comfort that comes from watching them that we just can’t ignore, while others are just classics from our childhood that we can never give up.

With that I thought it would be fun to chat about our favorite Christmas movies today. After working for a good chunk of the day on Saturday, I came home and started getting myself organized to wrap. I’ve done 90% of my holiday shopping online this year (so convenient!) and I’m still waiting on a few things but after dropping a couple toys with the apartment complex’s Toys for Tots donations, sipping on my favorite Candy Cane tea from Trader Joes, and sorting through boxes and paper and ribbons, I was definitely feeling the holiday spirit.

I sat down on my couch ready to tackle my inbox and wanted to throw a movie on in the background. I keep hearing people talk about Love Actually and it’s been years since I’d seen it and didn’t remember much, if anything, so I turned it on. By the end of the movie, I’m pretty sure my heart was exploding with love. The whole thing got me thinking about how I need more of these cheesy movies in my life this week as we gear up for lots of time with friends and family.

Here are some of my favorite or more classic Christmas movies.

White Christmas

I’ve mentioned several times that I just adore this movie! Watching this movie is a tradition in my family and one that I hope never ends!

Santa Clause

I seriously loved this movie as a kid. I was also a big Home Improvement fan so with Tim Allen as Santa Clause, you really couldn’t go wrong.

It’s A Wonderful Life

This is another family favorite.

A Muppet Christmas Carol

This may sound ridiculous, as it’s likely a giant dose of Nostalgia, but this may be one of my favorite versions of this Charles Dickens classic.

A Christmas Story

I have to admit that I didn’t love this movie growing up, but over the years, it’s definitely grown on me.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

How can you not love this movie?

Elf

A classic that everybody loves. I think it’s been a few years since I’ve seen it so I’m overdue.

Polar Express

I loved the book growing up so now I feel like I can continue that love into adulthood by watching the movie whenever I please.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

The other day on the radio I heard someone say, “the Christmas season doesn’t really start until you hear this song” and then the classic Charlie Brown Christmas tune came on and in that moment, I definitely couldn’t help but agree.

I love these movies (especially White Christmas, The Santa Clause and Elf!). They are my go-to movies this time of year… In fact tonight I watched The Santa Clause 2 and Elf with one of my girl friends. haha! And Peppermint tea is my jaaaam during the winter. I need to make me some now. Yum!

Great movies! A lot of people keep saying how great White Christmas is. I see it all the time on Netflix. I gotta check it out. My favorite movie is The Family Stone. Such a great movie about dysfunctional families. I think I like it because it reminds me of my family 🙂

Yes! That’s one of the best parts of Christmas! We actually got cable just because of it, lol. We have watched Polar Express more times that I can tell you, it is a favorite for sure.

I must be the only one in this country to have never seen Polar Express. I’m staying with the grandkids this holiday so maybe it can be on our to-do list…

We love The Polar Express and it’s a must to watch it every Christmas. Also A Christmas Carol, the one where Jim Carrey plays/ speaks Ebeneezer Scrooge. Also, The Family Stone – I just love that movie and have to watch it every year! I just did last Friday! Love, actually is a good one as well – haven’t watched it in a while either – might have to change that!
    Happy Monday xxx
