Have you heard of the Plank A Day challenge that runs wild on Twitter and the healthy-living community? Basically the idea is as easy as it’s name: do a plank every day and each day try to last longer than the previous day. Simple right?
It’s something I heard about for a long time and while I often do planks as part of my core strengthening workouts, I didn’t keep track of how long I could hold them or continuously push myself to hold them longer. But finally I decided it was time to give it a shot and see what I could do. Here’s a view at my progress over the last few days:
Disclaimer: These clearly aren’t my numbers for everyday but rather a few snippets to show my progress. I also do plank a day challenges with side planks but those are not included below.
- Sat 8/18: 1 min 10 seconds
- Wed 8/20: 1 min 20 seconds
- Mon 8/27: 1 min 25 seconds
- Thurs 9/6: 1 min 40 seconds
- Mon 9/10: 1 min 50 seconds
- Fri 9/14: 2 min
And while we’re at it, here’s something to power you through today’s workout – and power me through my 4 mile long run.

Have you ever taken part in the Plank A Day challenge?
What’s the longest you’ve been able to hold it?

Loving the new look on your site! I got out of the habit of Plank a Day, so I am so glad you did this post, it motivated me to start incorporating them back into my daily workout.
Yay!! And thanks – I’m loving it too!
Wow way to rock those planks girl! The last time I did one (months ago) I could hold for like a minute ten max. I really want to start doing the plank a day challenge so I can build up my core! You’re seeing your stamina increase really fast!
I found it’s all mind over matter and that I need distractions (aka music) or I don’t think I can last more than 20 seconds. 😉
oh my word – i love the new look!! did you do it yourself or hire someone?
I started playing around and hated what I came up with (ha!) so I hired someone and she did AMAZING! She also made social media icons but I’m having a hard time making my code work but they’ll make an appearance soon (hopefully!).
