On Sunday I partook in the Pretty Muddy mud run, my first mud run. I had the pleasure of being an ambassador for Pretty Muddy (ie: I got a free race entry) and while I enjoyed the experience, there’s definitely some things that could have made it better.
Step 1: Wake up early, pay $10 to park (I appreciate that it went to charity but this is still steep for parking in a grass field), pickup race bib, be sad you don’t get a tshirt and drop your stuff at bag check.
Step 2: Line up for your wave group and when the countdown ends, start running.
Step 3: This is a race that would be MUCH more fun with friends versus on your own, but regardless give it your all and have fun. I ran from obstacle to obstacle, only walking or stopping when I hit an obstacle or if I had to try and get around groups of people. Some of the obstacles weren’t that hard or exciting but others were definitely fun.
The fact that I climbed such a high rope without thinking twice, blew my mind!
Step 4: Bring it on home for the final sprint and mud pit. Don’t let a little mud stop you. And seriously, don’t mess with me when I’m in the mud! 😉
Step 5: Get your finishers medal and go get your picture taken!
Step 6: Throw your shoes in the donation pile, do your best to rinse off, change and make your way back home.
Despite some things that definitely could use improving, I had a good time and would love to do a mud run again with some friends!
Have you ever done a mud run before? If not, would you?

Oh my gosh those are some great pictures! You make mud running look hot!! 😉
Bummed I missed out but after looking at all of that mud, I’m pretty sure muddy runs aren’t for me 😉 I can’t wait to see you tomorrow at dinner!
