Productive Days Off

Man I love days off.  (Surprising, huh?) But seriously, I had yesterday off and also have today off.  It’s been glorious.  I was super productive with my morning yesterday:

-Made a big pot of oatmeal (that we can feed us for another morning).  Mine was tossed into a delicious empty peanut butter jar and topped with sliced banana and raisins.

-Laundry, including washing the sheets and pillows.  BAM!  Bed made.

-New recipe testing.  It’s got some tweaking but the potential is there.

-Cross-training at the gym.

-Massage and chiropractic adjustment.

Today is another day off which I hope to be just as productive and relaxing.  But I have to admit, I’m the most excited about going to see Les Miserables for a second time! I was invited to see a pre-screening before it came out and loved it so much I told my parents I’d see it again when they wanted to go.  Sure enough, that’s on the agenda!

We’re keeping it simple today because it’s the weekend and we should all be enjoying our time relaxing.  And that’s just what I’m going to do.

But first, a 4 mile run! I’m heading out the door!

I just ran across this quote again and I absolutely LOVE it so today I’m leaving you with something to think about:

What’s on your agenda for the weekend?

Anything fun and exciting?

Oh, I LOVE that quote. That is pretty much how I feel all the time…

I am the worst about relaxing. I try to sit down and just take a second to ‘be’ but I always seem to feel like I have to be productive. With two snow days last week, each evening I had this urge to list off the things I had accomplished that day as though I needed to validate my having extra time in which to do things. While this is AMAZING and gives me a sense of accomplishment, I am also working SO hard on letting myself have time without ‘product,’ you know?

I still need to see Les Mis! EVERYONE says it is amazing, and I love Hugh Jackman in musical roles. [His performance in Oklahoma! was awesome.]

Thanks! I think I didn’t let them do their thing with the cold water after cooking long enough because they taste great, look great but peel TERRIBLY and I end up losing half the egg white. 🙁

I’m always so torn on days off (like today)- do I sit around in my yoga pants and read… or do I actually go to yoga (or work out). I never, ever regret being productive until Sunday night and I realize I’ve done way too much.

Well while yesterday was productive, today was almost a complete waste. I guess it’s all about balance, right? 😉
