Retail Therapy

While I enjoy shopping, I’m not someone who goes out shopping all the time.  And if and when I do, I’m often “window” shopping because my budget just doesn’t allow for much more than that.  Over the last few weeks, I’ve really wanted a fun shopping trip to buy a few new items for myself but as usual, I just didn’t feel like I could fork over the cash.

That was until I found myself in need of a new running arm band.  And it was serious…y’know that point when you can’t wear it even one more time.

Gross, I know but I promise I’m getting somewhere with this…

The thing is, I knew if I set out to buy a new armband, I’d also be wandering around looking at clothes, shoes and everything else and wishing I could buy them.  I feared that I actually would and spend more money than I was prepared for.  So I did something for me…I took a look at my expenses, I figured out what was possible and reasonable without setting me back, and I gave myself a budget.

I made my way to TJ Max, tried on several pieces that could be worn to work or with jeans any day, made a few selections and left feeling good about my purchases.  I didn’t take pictures of the pieces (#bloggerfail) but I bought a new arm band (thank goodness!), two shirts, and a sweater (very similar to the one below).

I’ve had a rough couple of weeks and I really needed to do something for myself, to make myself feel better and guess what? It worked!  Sometimes we all need to take care of ourselves and sometimes that means a little retail therapy.

Thanks to Becky for reminding us to treat ourselves.

When was the last time you allowed yourself a little retail therapy?

Yay for retail therapy!! And I’m especially proud for you releasing your inner Maxxonista! 😉 It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been shopping for myself (vacation I think?) but luckily, I haven’t really felt the “need” for anything new! Just gives me a good excuse to start saving for Christmas! 😀

I love a little retail therapy!! 🙂 I need a little about 4 times a year…usually with the season change. TJ Max is one of my favorites!! 🙂 Even eBay is awesome for cute pieces!

    Yay on the armband!!!

I LOVE TJMaxx, Marshalls, any of those kind of places. Sometimes it’s hard to find something but if you’re patient, you can definitely find the gems!

Hah! My arm band is kind of in the same condition. It doesn’t smell that bad but it’s torn and just really messed up.

I try to plan at the beginning of the month what my splurge or treat for myself will be. I usually have a very long list of stuff I want but won’t ever get all at once. It’s nice to do it once in a while. More often and it’s not even fun!

I love retail therapy. Actually did some the past weekend. I brought a shirt, jacket, and earrings. Felt good afterwards too. But now i’m in need of new running shoes. I agree though sometimes you need to treat yourself even if it’s something small!

Ahhh – I am so happy you allowed yourself the flexibility to spend just a little bit! (AND that you got a new armband 😉 ) For some reason retail therapy always helps me as well – it just feels good to look good!
