Rocked!

Remember how I said yesterday was a big day?  Remember how I said my goal was just to finish?  Remember how I said I was running for hope?

I did all of those things and I even finished 5th in my age group!

Now before you all get too excited, my age group had 33 people (so not huge) but I’m still very pleased (though I can’t help but feel a little bummed that I was 2 spots away from getting a medal).  How cool would that have been?!

It was a great day for a run (or walk) and while the course was a little hilly, it wasn’t too bad and overall just a gorgeous course.  After worrying I started off too quickly, I made sure to really tune into my body and how it was feeling and stuck with a pace that felt good.  Turns out that pace was fast!

After sprinting across the finish line (I told you I felt good!), I found my dad, got some sips of my FitMixer amino and headed towards the school’s track and finished another 2 miles to meet my training run for the day.  (I totally could have done the 10k…next time!) 😉

Overall a great morning, great race and great time.  When’s the next race?

My mom even had a good time!

Have you ever run a race?

How did you do?

Yes I’m skipping Music Monday this week but yesterday’s run was too good to wait to share the results.  But so that I don’t leave you totally hanging on some love for your ears – Remember when I talked about the new Mumford & Sons song I Will Wait?  Well now that I’ve heard the whole album – go buy it, go listen to it.  It.is.amazing! Amazing!

Hey! Great job on your race! I see that you are from Crystal Lake, IL. My best friend lives in Crystal Lake too! I’ve been there at least 5 times in the past 10 years, including this past June! Keep you the good work 🙂
