Now that we’re into the new year, I’m sure many of you have set resolutions, goals or intentions for the year ahead. I know I’ve been working on my list of goals for 2014 and while they may change as the year progresses (and that’s OK!), I always find it to be really beneficial. I’m the kind of person who is always striving to be a better version of myself in every way so I really enjoy setting a few goals that I feel will help me get there.
So whether you’re the kind of person who makes resolutions, sets intentions or creates goals for the new year, if you haven’t already, take a few minutes and set yourself up for a great year ahead.
One thing I’m trying to do this year is create SMART goals versus the vague “be better” kind of goal. If you’re unfamiliar with SMART goals, here’s a refresher:
When creating Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely goals, we’re better able to understand what we’re striving for and know when we get there. Make sense?
Here are my goals for 2014. Please note this isn’t all of them as some are more personal or work specific that I’m not quite willing to share…at least not yet.
Are all of my goals for 2014 super specific or measurable? No, but that’s OK! Some goals are harder to make more specific or I haven’t quite figured out how just yet, but I’ll get there and update as I can.
What are some of your goals for 2014?

Resolutions were the theme of our Motivation Monday (you should come link up!) … The SMART acronym is great. I am such a reader, sometimes I think I need to set a goal to LIMIT myself to a number of books for the year so I don’t go overboard!
Dang girl! The list of books I want to read should lead you to believe I’m more of a reader…lol
Those are fantastic goals. I think mine need a little tweaking to make them more specific, but your goals are right on. Good luck!
Thanks! Good luck with yours too!
One of my goals for this year is to read 100 books. I wouldn’t dare make an “avoid the snooze button” resolution–I wouldn’t succeed! Good luck! :]
100?! Dang, you go! 🙂
I’m all for making goals (not resolutions) in the new year! Especially realistic, attainable goals. Your list is great and I definitely believe that you can/will accomplish them. Happy New Year! XO
Thanks, girl! 🙂
