“So Alive”

so alive

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved the Goo Goo Dolls. Maybe that’s cheesy to say, but their music transports me back to an easier time or a different place. I’m not entirely sure what it is, but whatever it is, I’m not complaining.

I sat at my desk Friday afternoon and couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by the list of things I was still hoping to accomplish before my work week was over. I enjoy to be busy, so I’m not complaining, but I found myself looking for tooth picks to keep my eyes open, finding the stress, anxiety and business of the week catching up to me. I kept going back and forth between podcasts, audio book and music as I tried to find something to give me that additional jolt that I needed to power through my final hours.

I opened my file cabinet, grabbed a k-cup, and made my way to the coffee machine for an afternoon cup, something I haven’t needed very often since consistently drinking my apple cider vinegar cocktails each morning, but today I needed something. When I got back to my desk, I checked my email and saw the new music video for Goo Goo Dolls “So Alive” was out. I realized   I hadn’t heard the entirety of the new album so I opened Spotify and before I was even 2 full songs in, I was in a zone.

Maybe it was the coffee, maybe it was the music, or maybe it was the combination of the two. Whatever it was, it carried me through the final hours, eyes wide open and tackling item after item from the list.

So now that it’s Monday and we’re back to our work weeks and boy do I have a long one ahead of me, I hope you find the music to carry you through. If you need a suggestion, might I suggest ‘Boxes’?

What music is powering you through the new work week?

And while I have your attention, won’t you help build the ultimate road trip playlist?

I feel really dumb, but I’m new to Spotify. I love your music recommendations – and playlists! – but cannot figure out how to follow you on there, to gain access to them. Help? Is there a user name that I need to search under or something? Thanks!

Hadn’t heard anything about their new album yet but this song made me go and check it out, love it!
