We’ve all been there…things are going wonderfully, life is falling into place and you can’t help but think you’re in the right place and doing the right thing. But then you find out you’re at the top of the roller coaster and about to make one hell of a descent. Except, you never actually saw that descent coming and it catches you so off guard you can’t figure out how to prepare yourself for it. For a moment, you wonder if you forgot to strap yourself into the seat properly, wondering if at any moment you’re going to go flying out of the car.
Something’s gotta give, right?
As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours. It’s never been one that anyone has liked but it’s always our go-to when it feels like there’s just one thing after another. Whether it’s money, health, family, relationship or job related. Maybe it’s a combination of each of them and maybe the issues range from annoying to a shit-tastic storm, but still, “when it rains, it pours.”
Something’s gotta give, right?
It’s so easy when we’re in these moments to feel like this is the end, like there’s no hope, no other side to the struggle, and no positive in a world of negative. But that’s not actually the case. Truth is, something’s gotta give. But you do have to help it along.
I’m a big believer that we control our thoughts and feelings. Yes, sometimes that can be really hard but the more you practice, the easier it is and the quicker you’re able to bounce back from those really tough situations.
Like I said, something’s gotta give. And it does. And it will. Sometimes, you’ve just got to help it along.
What do you do when it just feels like something’s gotta give?
You know, just thinking out loud.

I can very much relate, and I think one of the things that helps me get through those hard times the most is reminding myself that they pass… that this isn’t the end, and that better times will come along. You’re right that it’s a little too easy to fall into those pits of hopelessness, which is why the reminder that change is coming is such an important one.
Amen to that, sista!
I usually feel out of control and at my breaking point when I get really busy. I can’t focus on one thing at a time, I jump between doing 3 things at once. Not productive at all! Sometimes I just need to slooooow down.
Remembering to slow down is such a great thing! My problem is that I get BORED and when I get bored, I lose motivation for EVERYTHING and get NOTHING done. lol
I totally can relate to this post! I definitely feel as though I’m descending quickly on that roller coaster you referenced. I also agree with you, that our perspective and how we handle our thoughts really dictates a lot of our circumstances. Sometimes it’s really freaking hard to stay positive, but when we break it down and find something small, even something tiny… just one thing a day to reflect on and be positive about, I think that goes a long way. Thanks for writing this.
You got it, friend! Things in life won’t always be perfect, in fact there will always be something but it always comes down to how we handle those things. Your roller coaster WILL bring you back up, but in the meantime, keep doing your thing and pushing yourself.
we are TOTALLY in control of our thoughts and feelings 😀

I am right there with you right now. I am in the process of letting things happen, while remaining positive that the things I think about the most will come to light, I just don’t know how yet. Have you seen the secret? Hoping the best for you, I am sure it will work itself out.
Girl, when I figure out the secret, I’ll let you know! 😉
