Taking Breakfast To Go

One of my favorite things lately has been to work from a coffee shop, whether my local coffee shop or a nearby Starbucks, I love having that change of scenery. I swear it really increases my productivity. (Working from homeand your bedroom…is not an easy task!)

I often wake up early, head to the gym for my workout, shower & get ready for my day while I’m there and then pick a coffee shop on the drive home to set up shop for a few hours of work. I don’t usually head home until I start getting hungry for lunch which means I’m packing my breakfast and a midmorning snack (just in case!) to eat with my coffee.

Often I’ll make a smoothie, chia pudding, and pack fruit, nuts or bars since they’re all pretty easy to travel with. When Vega asked if I wanted to try some of their vegetarian meal, protein and snack bars as part of my partnership with Sweat Pink, of course I said yes! More options for easy grab and go bars for my coffee shop mornings OR for any other travels.

They hooked me up!

Now, I will admit when it comes to bars, I am about as picky as they come. I want something that tastes good, keeps me full and satisfied and is a healthy option that fits my lifestyle (i.e.: super clean ingredients).

That first morning I brought 3 bars with me. Was my plan to eat all 3? No, but what if I didn’t like one? I didn’t want to be stuck with no breakfast and growling belly. That just wouldn’t cut it. And I must admit, the first bar I tried, I didn’t love.

IMG_3942I started with the Vega One bar in peanut butter and chocolate and quite honestly, I didn’t like it. The flavor was not what I was expecting and I found it to be really gritty, something that I find with many vegetarian protein bars. I couldn’t eat it. 🙁

Vega One Bar- AllI moved on to the Vega Sport mint chocolate bar…it was better but still gritty. I had a few small bites but still wasn’t feeling it. 🙁

Finally, I moved on to my 3rd option, the Vega Snack bar in the Dark Chocolate Mixed Nuts and Sea Salt…winner winner non-chicken dinner! 😉

It was almost like Goldie Locks and the 3 Bears to find which bar was just right for me but I got there, and when I did, I enjoyed my breakfast, coffee and got in a few good hours of work before heading home for lunch and the rest of my work day. I’ll definitely be having these snack bars once again!

What are some of your favorite on-the-go meal bars?

Thank you to Vega & Fit Approach for hooking a girl up!

Love Vega bars. I’ve had a really hard time coming up with on-the-go breakfasts. I have been making that veggie hash for months and stocking my freezer with that so I have that a lot. More than I’d like to.
