A big part of my job is to see live music. Rough life, huh? Of course I enjoy it but since I live out in the suburbs and it’s a good hour drive into the city, it takes a lot out of me, especially on the weeks I’m going in 3 times (or more!). I’ve been trying to keep it to 2 quality shows a week and maybe a 3rd just for fun but where the pressure to attend isn’t there and I can choose to stay home if I’m feeling tired.
Well that was Friday night for me except that I really wanted to see the band and hang out with my friend who lives in the city and was going to meet me at the venue. But this winter isn’t playing nicely and despite warmer temps on Friday, we were also paired with rain which made for wet roads and as the evening cooled down, turned to ice. There was no way I was going to risk not only the drive there but also the drive back.
The moment I sent my friend the text apologizing for canceling, I put on my PJs, turned on The Wild Feathers, and cozied up in bed for an evening in.
Don’t know The Wild Feathers? You should!
I had the pleasure of seeing these guys play live a couple months ago and they turned out to be one of my favorite live shows in 2013 – so good! They’re coming back to Chicago in February and I’m REALLY hoping I can convince some friends to go again.
This is the band’s first album and I honestly believe it’s good front-to-back. Plus when you add in a killer live show, you’ve got a band with incredible potential. At least if you ask me and my ever-so-honest and professional opinion. 😉
So while I was sad there was no live music on my Friday night, I can’t complain about the alternative!
(Confession: I have a total crush on the dude in the maroon shirt…can anyone set us up? 😉 )
Check out The Wild Feathers – live AND recorded!
What are you listening to lately?
What did your weekend look like?
I can’t believe I almost forgot to mention – Happy 3rd Birthday my dear little blog. Thank you for being their for me – for seeing me through the best of times and some of the worst, for being a place to connect with others around the world and make some incredible friendships that extend well beyond your pages, and for being my outlet and place that I love to come every day.
And I can’t forget to thank you to all of you – whether you’ve been reading for 3 minutes, 3 days or 3 years – thank you. Thank you for helping make this blog what it is, for sharing this space with me and for encouraging me through the good times and the bad. I truly appreciate every single one of you. I hope you’ll continue to stick around and see what I have to say.

You had to italicize “professional?” I don’t think so. LOL.
It was for emphasis! 😉
