We all know that mid-day slump, right? That time that generally falls between 10am and 2pm when all of a sudden the day just tends to drag on and on and on. It’s not quite lunch time or it’s post-lunch and we’re feeling that blood sugar crash.
While I may be (currently) unemployed, I still get that feeling. The motivation starts fading and I start to wonder if I’ll ever be able to focus on a task (or writing those dang cover letters) ever again. So what are some of the best ways to combat it? I’m so glad you asked…
Get some fresh air
It’s amazing what a quick trip outside can do! Between the fresh air and the sunshine, it only takes a few minutes for me to feel like a brand new woman!
Go for a walk
Bonus if you take your walk outside (even around your office parking lot) but just getting up and moving is so energizing. I was always great about drinking water when I was at the office because every time I needed a refill, I had an excuse to step away from my desk and get the blood flowing again. And with that, every trip to the restroom! ha!
Reach for the peppermint oil
You all know how much I love using essential oils in my day to day and peppermint is considered an energizing oil. Take off the cap and take a nice deep breath, get it going in your diffuser (if that’s OK in your workplace), or put a drop in your hands and rub them together.
Stretch it out
Basically, you want to get that body moving somehow! Roll your shoulders forward and back, stand up and reach to the ceiling then down to your toes, take some seated twists in your chair, and a few deep breaths.
